Season 2 – Week 18/19 summery – North is Done, Manhunters bow out

What a busy couple of weeks we have had. The past few weeks have seen the close of North Division and the race to determine the South Division Champion coming to a head.

The Strickland Slammers and Best of Bands clashed in what was the final match of North Division. By the end of the match the Best of Bands had been demolished once again. The final score was 6 – 0 (which was the second time the lizards had conceded that number of touchdowns in a match!). With that score the Slammers have become the top scoring team for the Open Scramble 2507/08! There are still 2 other teams hot on their heals (the Loren Rangers and the Drakwald Deadheads) and there is everything to play for as the Rangers still have 1 game left in the Open Scramble Final. The other key about that match was that the Slammers caused over 10 casualties. This breaks the previous record set by Ragnars Swift Velocity earlier in the Season for “Most Casualties caused in a match by one team”. Good Luck to the Slammers in the Championship Cup Tournament.

The other two games where the Middenhein Manhunters final two. The Manhunters have been unable to get into any kind of form this season and as a result have paid a heavy price. Their first match was against the rising Uphill Gardeners. After a tense match the Gardeners won 4 – 0 which moves them into contention for the South Division Championship (or at least a qualifying spot for the Championship Cup Tournament.

Our Final game was between the Manhunters and the Drackwald Deadheads. Once again the Manhunters put on a brave display but it wasn’t enough to take the win. the Deadheads finished the game at 4-1 which improves their chances of finishing in the top spot.

So where does that leave us in the Open Scramble. There are now only two games remaining in South Division before the Winner of North faces the Winner of South in the final of the Open Scramble to determine the HDWSBBL League Champion.

The Finalist from North was determined many weeks ago as the Loren Rangers dominated from the start. South Division though has seen a bit more Conflict. The Deadheads where early favorites but after a few technical problems involving the moon being hidden behind clouds they have slipped a bit. Their main rivals, the Karak Smashers have dominated wherever they have gone. They are one of the most Destructive teams the league has ever seen and have already booked themselves a place in the PitRat Cup final. Can they make it too through to the final of all 3 competitions? Our final contenders are the Uphill Gardener. Week after week these ladies have picked up the wins over unsuspecting opponents. Could they do the unthinkable and come from behind to overthrow the Deadheads and the Smashers?
