HDWSBBL 2509/2510 (Season 4) Information

The Start of the 4th season of the HDWSBBL is now upon us.

As with the previous seasons, the rule set that we are using is LRB5 which is available on the Games Workshop website. We are also using the clarifications issued in the Rule Review which includes the 3 new teams (Chaos Pact, Slann and Underworld). You can continue to use your team from the previous season, or create a new one from scratch using the rules outlined in the rulebook. As with previous seasons, Star Players are not allowed as we prefer to build our own stars!

As with last season, the league will meet to play every two weeks. That should allow time in between games to play other game systems, take time out or play catch-up games.

This season, 3 Major and 1 Minor championship will be up for grabs, the HDWSBBL League Cup, the HDWSBBL Championship Cup, the HDWSBBL Challenge Cup and the HDWSBBL Shield. Details of the competition for these Championship Cups are below:

Open Scramble 2509/2510

The Open Scramble will return this year and will be for the HDWSBBL League Cup. The competition itself will take on a similar format to Hunts Havoc 2508/09 with the teams split equally into four divisions. Each divisional winner will then face the other divisional winners until one team is left the winner and crowned the league champions.

During the league stages, a team earns points for every match played as follows:

  • Win – 3 points;
  • Draw – 1 point;
  • Loss – 0 points.

Teams will be ordered in their division by the following: Points, Touchdown Difference, Casualty Difference, Touchdowns for, Casualties for.

The overall winner will receive a bonus of 80,000gp and the runner-up will receive a bonus of 40,000gp. As per the HDWSBBL Rulebook, any Final and Semi-Final games will see the attendance number doubled.

The Championship IV

Once the Open Scramble has concluded the knock-out tournament to determine the fourth HDWSBBL Champion will begin.

The top 2 teams from each division of the Open Scramble automatically qualify for this tournament. Teams will be paired off, with the loser of the resulting match being eliminated from the tournament. Eventually, only one team will be left will be declared the HDWSBBL Championship Cup winners.

The overall winner will receive a bonus of 70,000gp and the runner-up will receive a bonus of 40,000gp. As per the HDWSBBL Rulebook, any Final and Semi-Final games will see the attendance number doubled.

The Pepslay Challenge 2509/10

For the third season in a row, the HDWSBBL Challenge Cup Competition has seen a change in sponsor. Beverage makers Pepslay are proud to sponsor the HDWSBBLs first ever Pepslay Challenge.

Unlike previous years, the Pepslay Challenge will take the form of a round-robin ladder system. There will be four rounds of matches were all teams will be competing. In the first round, teams will be randomly seeded against each other. The results of this round will determine where on the ladder a team will sit. For subsequent rounds the teams will face off against a team at a similar level to them.

After the four rounds are complete, the team in 1st will be awarded the HDWSBBL Challenge Cup, the teams in 2nd and 3rd place will get the Runners-up and third placed cups.

For each match they play, a team will be awarded points as follows:

  • Win – 30 points;
  • Draw – 10 point;
  • Loss – 0 points.

Teams will be ordered on the ladder by the following: Points, Touchdown Difference, Casualty Difference, Touchdowns for, Casualties for.

The overall winner will receive a bonus of 60,000gp and the runner-up will receive a bonus of 30,000gp.

The Slammer Shield

The HDWSBBL Shield makes a return this season. As per tradition, the competition is named after the worst performing team from the previous season. In this case the competition is named after the Tail Slammers, the second Skaven team to have the honour of having the competition named after them. With the Slammers likely taking part in this season, will we see the first team winning a competition named after them?

The overall winner will receive a bonus of 40,000gp and the runner-up will receive a bonus of 20,000gp. As per the HDWSBBL Rulebook, any Final and Semi-Final games will see the attendance number doubled.

The 2509/10 Season is due to start on the 3rd of September. Stay tuned to the website as news about the new and returning teams begins to be announced.
