Season 4 – Week 3 – Return to Form

A busy week took place as nearly every team was in action. The Rangers and the Reavers returned this week after much anticipation and the Teotigua Predators made their HDWSBBL debut as thousands of fans flooded the stadiums.

First to North Division with the Karond Kar Corsairs took on We Tree Fellows. After last week the Corsairs were hungry for their first win of the season, and boy did they do it in style. The Corsairs kicked off the action and wasted no time to get stuck in. They scored the first touchdown and the fans blew a sigh of relief , but it was to be short lived as just before half time We Tree Fellows scored to level the scoreline. The second have was a real struggle for both teams, but a few mistakes by the Fellows caused an easy touchdown for the Corsairs. The fans however were still uneasy after the upset draw last week due to a last miunte touchdown. But soon enough the fans could rest easy as mintues later the Corsairs scored their thrid and sealed the game in their favour.

The second match in North was highly anticipated on both sides.  Both teams have been on form in their last games and both were eager to win their first points of the season. The game in question was between the Tail Slammers and the Innsmouth shadows. The game was high paced (as fast as the undead could go however) but in the end the Slammers were victorious with two touchdowns to one. This is possibly the best start the Tail Slammers have had ever in their history.

South Divison was no stranger to touchdowns this week as the Loren Rangers made their debut match of the season aganist the lizardmen of Teotigua. Needless to say the Rangers delivered a first class performance worthy of their title as highest scoring team. The first half was very tense to begin with as the Predators came back drawing the game for a short period. But the Rangers soon came back with touchdowns from Elessar Everlong and Elison Crownstar. The Predators managed to score another touchdown by the hands of  Keoni. But the Rangers were too far ahead and finished the match six touchdowns to two.

The other match in South was between the Orcland Cleavers and the Bile Biltzers. The Cleavers looking to win some points after their defeat last week got off to a good start. But nearing the end of the first half they were getting tired. With body parts and vomit everywhere the Cleavers found it hard to get into the game. Speedy play by the Blitzers saw them win a very unexcpeted victory over the orcs and move right up the table. Unlucky tactics and too many fumbles cost the Cleavers the match.

On to east divison and  Atrocity Exibition contiune their onslaught by beating fellow undead rivials the Tutsbone Jackles two – nill. An amazing display of blocking and caging by Exibiton sealed their second win out of two games and make a commanding postion in first place. The Jackalls however played a very good game and are surely to win a game sooner or later.

Also in action was the match between the Beumont Blitzers and the Mc Cauligh Reavers. This was another great game to watch as both teams played fullspeed trying to win much needed points. It was the Reavers in the end who dominated over the Blitzers beating them four – nill in an awesome display. The Blitzers, not one to leave empty handed, did entertain the crowd with a lot of injurys to the Reavers (as well as a death) But this will not be the end of the Blitzers, as a big outstaning team in the league they will soon bounce back and be in the running for the Championship.

And our last game of the week took place in west divison between the Valhallen Vixens and old hands the Man Eaters. The Vixens were out to win yet again puting out their full force. But the Man eaters, being a returning team, had the man power and went two – nill up at halftime. The Vixens thought their luck had run out but quick plays and plenty of fumbles by the Man Eaters saw them draw the game two all and retain their undeafted record. With the way the Vixens are player they will be a very strong team in the HDWSBBL for years to come.

Coachs comment of the week was quite a sympathic one since it comes from the mouth of the Teotigua Predators coach Kai Konani after their heavy defeat to the Loren Rangers

Tough start, and hard to leave Loren empty-handed…..So we’ll be roobing the burger van on the way out!

And that rounds this week up. Apoliges must be made for the recent downage of the site last week. Apparently it was a problem in the accounts department and the Ogre in questions has now been sacked.

League Standings for the Open Scramble 2509/2510 (Week 3)

Going into week 3 and the league is starting to really cook over. With the return of the Rangers, Reavers and the debut of the Teogtigua Predators the league has been turned upside down on it’s head.

North division has finally broken its drawing streak. After two weeks there has finally been a win, and not only that, two wins. The Corsairs go top this week but the Slammers are close behind by only a point.

South Division saw the Bile Blitzers join the Grinders on joint first after their win over the Cleavers but the Rangers are creeping up as they go third with a win over the Predators.

Atrocity still continue their onslaught in east and remain on top. But the Heavers need only a win to go joint top with the Undead. But with the Jackalls playing very good blood bowl and the Blitzers begining to find their feet this could throw east right up in the air.

The Vixens remain top after a very close draw and continue their unbeaten streak. The Barflys take on RSV next week and a win could see them only a point behind the babes. But can RSV rise above their last match and win their first game of the season?
