Season 4 – Week 5 – Dirty Dark Rats!

Reporter: Bob Fortune

This week was very quiet as only two! yes two games took place and both of them were in North. Not to mean that their wasn’t the same thrills and spills, but it would of been much nicer to see more teams getting smashed about. Regardless of the lack of matches, the two that took place were very enjoyable to watch especially since one of them was a complete shock to everyone who watched the mentioned game, the tv audience, the opposing team, the HDWSBBL results team as well as the winning team themselves. But more on that particular match later on. Firstly we travel to the Providence to summarise the game between the Innsmouth Shadows and the champions, Karond Kar Corsairs.

Needless to say the Corsairs retained their title as champions and what an amazing way to do it. They slipped four touchdowns past the Shadows without even breaking a sweat. Sadly their sly handed assassin Venomblade caused a massive headache for JoJo’s team. Not only the fact that he is of elvish blood, but he also held back his main players and injuring a few of them on the way. And after the first few went past them it was really game over as the Corsairs allowed them no time to even get back up once a touchdown was scored. If Venomblade was taken out of the game then I believed the Shadows could of mounted a counter attack. Star player of the match was #13 Venomblade (Karond Kar Corsairs) for his skillful and very annoying stabbing skills.

Now after that result I’m guessing you, the reader, are thinking “well nothing can surely top that?” but fellow BB lovers, I can. The second match was between the Tail Slammers and old veterans the Drakewald Deadheads. Surly a band of smelly, lice infested, poorly taught rats could never beat the almighty Deadheads? But they did. Their sly and speedy gutter runners ran rings around the undead, and being…well undead, the Deadheads found it impossible to keep up with them. During the course of the match the Deadheads had reduced the Slammers to a few linerats and scored an amazing equalizer. But it was all in vein as in the second half  the Slammers star player Arcani Spark completed a touchdown to this very day and for the rest of my life I will never forget. After getting up and dodging into the area of the ball being looked over by three of the Deadheads strongest players, he quickly grabbed the ball, dodged out, ran past two more players and then (this is the truly amazing part) tripping over his own tail and barrel rolling, with said ball in hand, to the endzone winning the match for the Slammers. But the really incredible part is that he rolled at least twenty feet and in a straight line. Amazing. Star Player of the match was of course #11 Arcani Spark for that truly weird and wonderful touchdown.

Coach’s comment of the week has to go to Bob Pastey of the Drakewald Deadheads for their very unluckly loss to the Slammers, and I’m sure we would all be thinking the same if we were in his boots

These Skaven are far too fast. Someone really needs to chop them off at their knees. Then my zombies might be able to keep up!

And that’s the roundup for this week. Next week we will have four teams from South duking it out so as always we will post out weekly summary about them next week. Also for this coming Thursday is the draw for the Pepslay Challenge, so grab your wife and get down to your local pub to find out who your favorite team will be playing on the 15th in the first round.

League Standings for the Open Scramble 2509/2510 (Week 5)

Since only North played we shall round them up. The Corsairs lead the pack with eight points but they are only top due to touchdown difference as the Slammers are equal on points after their win over the Deadheads. They stay third in the division since the Shadows lost and sadly remain bottom. The Deadheads have a real chance to catch up with the Slammers and Corsairs if they beat We Tree Fellows in their game in hand. The same goes for Wee Tree Fellows.

One comment

  1. What? No mention of the KKC’s number 11? Who put the same wight into dead and injured twice in a row?
Nearly got himself a hat trick to boot?

Which incidentially marks the first time THIS ENTIRE YEAR that I’ve managed to make a regen roll.

I think it’s time for some new dice…
