Causing Havoc in the old world since 2506

Season 4 – Week 16 – Record Breaking Completion and a Historic Win

As winter sets in across the old world, the teams of the HDWSBBL braved the snow storms to play the remaining games in the Pepslay Challenge 2509/10 this week.

We had four games in the Pepslay Challenge take place. As a result there is only one game remaining in the second round of the Pepslay Challenge which will take place in the New Year.

The first game we are covering actually took place two weeks ago but our fearless reporter got lost attempting to hand in the official report document. It was the first encounter between the Orcland Cleavers and the Wee Tree Fellows in the second round of the Pepslay Challenge.

Both teams where eager to get away from the bottom of the standings and get some valuable points in the competition. Both teams fought hard with WTF managing to avoid taking a battering at the hands of the Orcs. After a long drawn out match the end result was 1-1 with Thrower Rulg Ear-Hacker scoring a surprise Touchdown for the Cleavers and Dec scoring his second Touchdown of the competition for WTF which he dedicated to his team mate Ant who lost his life earlier in the season.

Hamish the Hammer made his 25th Completion of the season putting more pressure on Erison Youngwhite.

The second game was the match between the Loren Rangers and the Grappler Flesh Grinders. This was the third time that these two teams had faced each other and the third time that they set an attendance record for the league. Between these two teams they have now set the record for the highest attended game in the Pepslay Challenge 2509/10 and the Open Scramble 2509/10 (which is also the highest attended non semi-final/final game in HDWSBBL history).

39,000 fans crammed into the Loren Riverdome to watch the currently undefeated Rangers take on one of the favourites for the Shield Competition. As the match started, the Flesh Grinders ploughed through the Rangers sending several to the apothecary for healing. This slowed the Rangers down a bit but eventually the recently recruited Wardancer Lenrean Serindé overcome his nerves and scored for the Rangers. From there the inevitable happened as the Everlong brothers got hold of the ball and quickly ran home two more. The final score was 3-0 to the Rangers and the Flesh Grinders have vowed to get even with the Rangers one day.

One of the milestones of the match was Errison Youngwhite who made his 100th accurate throw of his career! He had the following to say:

I will dedicate this milestone to the other throwers of the league as I have no plans of stopping. This dedication is the closest thing to an award that they will be winning in the near future.

We also saw another league milestone in the next match between the Tail Slammers and the Tutsbone Jackles. For some time now the Jackles have been struggling to get to get a win under their belts but now they can face their God Anubis with a skeletal smile as they managed to defeat the Slammers, picking up their first win in the HDWSBBL!

In a tense game which saw several of the Slammers get injured, the Jackle Skeleton Mehutu Se scored the only Touchdown of the match. They hope to use this as momentum going into the Slammer Shield where they hope to pick up a few more victories.

The final game of the week was the match between the Riskin Arms Bar Flys and the Man Eaters. As the Bar Flys have now retired from the league, the Man Eaters where awarded the automatic win and 30 points.

That’s all for this week, and for this year! The summaries will return in the New Year when the games start.
