The Start of the 5th season of the HDWSBBL is now upon us!
As the rules are now published, the rule set that we are using is Competition Rules pack (CRP AKA LRB6) which is available on the Games Workshop website. We are also using the 3 ofical new teams (Chaos Pact, Slann and Underworld). You can continue to use your team from the previous season, or create a new one from scratch using the rules outlined in the rulebook. As with previous seasons, Star Players are not allowed as we prefer to build our own stars!
As with last season, the league will meet to play every two weeks. That should allow time in between games to play other game systems, take time out or play catch-up games.
This season, 3 Major and 1 Minor championship will be up for grabs, the HDWSBBL League Cup, the HDWSBBL Championship Cup, the HDWSBBL Challenge Cup and the HDWSBBL Shield. Details of the competition for these Championship Cups are below:
Open Scramble 2510/2511
The Open Scramble will return this year and will be for the HDWSBBL League Cup. The competition itself will take on a similar format to previous competitions with the teams split equally into four divisions. Each divisional winner will then face the other divisional winners until one team is left the winner and crowned the league champions.
During the league stages, a team earns points for every match played as follows:
- Win – 3 points;
- Draw – 1 point;
- Loss – 0 points.
Teams will be ordered in their division by the following: Points, Touchdown Difference, Casualty Difference, Touchdowns for, Casualties for.
The overall winner will receive a bonus of 80,000gp and the runner-up will receive a bonus of 40,000gp. As per the HDWSBBL Rulebook, any Final and Semi-Final games will see the attendance number doubled.
The Championship V
Once the Open Scramble has concluded the knock-out tournament to determine the fifth HDWSBBL Champion will begin.
The top 2 teams from each division of the Open Scramble automatically qualify for this tournament. Teams will be paired off, with the loser of the resulting match being eliminated from the tournament. Eventually, only one team will be left will be declared the HDWSBBL Championship Cup winners.
The overall winner will receive a bonus of 70,000gp and the runner-up will receive a bonus of 40,000gp. As per the HDWSBBL Rulebook, any Final and Semi-Final games will see the attendance number doubled.
The Spite Challenge 2510/11
For the fourth season in a row, the HDWSBBL Challenge Cup Competition has seen a change in sponsor. Beverage brand Spite are proud to sponsor the HDWSBBLs annual competition.
like last year, the Spite Challenge will take the form of a round-robin ladder system. There will be four rounds of matches were all teams will be competing. In the first round, teams will be randomly seeded against each other. The results of this round will determine where on the ladder a team will sit. For subsequent rounds the teams will face off against a team at a similar level to them.
After the four rounds are complete, the team in 1st will be awarded the HDWSBBL Challenge Cup, the teams in 2nd and 3rd place will get the Runners-up and third placed cups.
For each match they play, a team will be awarded points as follows:
- Win – 30 points;
- Draw – 10 point;
- Loss – 0 points.
Teams will be ordered on the ladder by the following: Points, Touchdown Difference, Casualty Difference, Touchdowns for, Casualties for.
The overall winner will receive a bonus of 60,000gp and the runner-up will receive a bonus of 30,000gp.
The Cleaver Cup
The HDWSBBL Shield makes a return this season. As stipulated last season, the competition is named after the team who came last in the Peplsay Challenge 2509/10. In this case the competition is named after the Orcland Cleavers, the frist non-Skaven team to have the honour of having the competition named after them.
The overall winner will receive a bonus of 40,000gp and the runner-up will receive a bonus of 20,000gp. As per the HDWSBBL Rulebook, any Final and Semi-Final games will see the attendance number doubled.
The 2510/11 Season is due to start on the 16th of September with the initial draw for the Open Scramble 2510/11 due to take place on the 9th of September. Stay tuned to the website as news about the new and returning teams begins to be announced.
