Season 12 – Round 4 – Challenge Cup Final Week

BH: The last round of the Challenge Cup and it was all to play for. The Deadly Spawn were in touching distance of lifting their first Championship Cup after dominating their first three match.

Arcani\’s All Sparks 7 (1) – 5 (3) Averheim Eagles

In a record breaking match the All Sparks won their third match by beating off the Eagles, who to give them credit, never gave up in this match. The highest scoring match in HDWSBBL history saw Arcani Spark IV pick up five touchdowns and draw level with the current record held by Hamilton of Wee Tree Fellows way back in 2512. The Eagles matched the Sparks blow for blow but in the end they couldn’t recoup the two touchdown disadvantage they suffered at the start. The Sparks pick up a close third place finish after their horrific start.

The Deadly Spawn 1 (0) – 2 (1) Hashut Hairy Hammers

The big match of the evening! All the Spawn needed to do was hold off for a draw or a win. The Hammers had to go hard or go home for the win and they were truly the team who showed up and went hard. The Spawn could not break down the defence might of the Hammers nor their strong attacking blocks. It was all square into the second half but the Hammers held off numerous assaults from the frogs to claim their first Championship Cup. The Spawn took a well earned second place but will surely feel hard done by given their three other matches were masterclass.

Pastafarians 0 (0) – 1 (3) Suderholm Snow Leopards

A match more for pride and bragging rights. Both have already recorded a win but another would surely make up for the loses. It was a close affair but the Snow Leopards who out punched their opponents, a rare thing for the Pastafarians, and sealed the win for a fourth place finish. The Pastafarians more than likely had the upcoming season more on their minds.

Khorne Stars 0 (1) – 3 (1) Meadow Glade Mustangs

Another match for pride and a good run out. The Mustangs were looking for a win after loosing the last three rounds in very close matches. The Khorne could of challenged third place but the Mustangs had other ideas. Playing for the first time like a Wood Elf team should they outclassed the Chaos in a thriller of a match. Shortly after the Khorne coach could be heard tearing the team apart…could be the end for their career. A solid victory to the Mustangs who in the end didn’t finish bottom.

BH: And that rounds up the Challenge Cup for this year! For completeness here are the final standings. And be sure to keep up to date as the season is only around the corner!
