Bloodweiser Team of 2515

Good evening sports fans!

As one of the last broadcasts from HDWSBBL headquarters I will be reviewing the best players from the 2414/15 season and who has made the Bloodweiser XI for this season.

2514/15 has been an amazing season:  92 matches played, 265 touchdowns scored and over 300 casualties caused!  We saw 11 rookie teams and 5 veterans of the past come and try to climb their way to the pinnacle of the HDWSBBL.  This is not a review of team glory though, this is a reminder of individual talent.  To highlight the giddy heights that only few reach I have created a team which could match any in the league and have the right to add “Bloodweiser XI member 2514/15” to their accolades:

 Blockers/Line of Scrimmage:

  • Lhakhi Harsh-Foot, Ashut Titans:  16 Casualties in 11 games from this hideous clawed dwarf.  Chaos surely favoured him and didn’t favour anyone he hit!
  • Prince Ehtar, Arkhan Black Towers: Who doesn’t want a mummy who is adept at blocking and help his teammates block?  9 Casualties identifies him as a lynchpin to this or any team.
  • Azhug Eyedrinker, Black Mountain Bloodjaws: 2 deaths in 9 casualties in 15 games.  Voted MVP 3 separate times.  A huge black orc who completes the Bloodwiser XI line of scrimmage – Nuffle help all who faces them.

Blitzers:

  • Korgak the Krazy, Black Mountain Bloodjaws: Strong and agile this marvellous blitzer has scored 11 TDs and caused 10 casualties (including 1 death); this has him at the first of the 4 blitzer spots on my team.
  • Pennington, Oxmoor Savages: Another “Killer” player who is exceptionally quick over the ground and strong enough in the blitz to take down the mightiest of players.  He can also pass a bit… bonus!
  • Ueghor Ironjaw, Temper Bay Marauders: An orc from the veteran team who has performed wonderfully this season with 8 TDs and 5 cas.  A great addition to any team and a worthy addition to this Bloodwiser XI.
  • Kaine Soulshredder, Darkfleet Assasins: No one else has had an award named after them this season! Kaine has found infamy and immortality in the HDWSBBL.  You just can’t ignore him when looking at the best blitzers in the league this season.

Runners/Catchers:

  • Viktor, Vahallen Vixens: The Vixens had a good season in 2514/15 and the majority of this was down to Viktor performing magic on the pitch.  18.. yes 18 TDs, 1 casualty and 1 completion in 13 matches is just an unbelievable return from the “grandfather” of the league.  If the Vixens ever return they will hope that he never leaves for the halls of Valhalla – The best player in the HDWSBBL this season – he really is “The Daddy”.
  • Gutwrencher, Arkhan Black Towers: The top rookie scorer of the season with 15 TDs Gutwrencher also found some joy as a defender with his opponents unable to shake him off.  A ghoul from the top draw.
  • Mr Fumbles, Blackburners: No the Blackburners did not have a good season but Fumbles is one of the stars of the HDWSBBL.  Unparalleled in his agility and strong in the block he could take a team apart by himself.  Supported by the other players in this team I don’t think many teams could stop him scoring or decimating his opponents!

Throwers:

  • Erika; Valhallen Vixens: If you want a ball picked up, secured and passed to hands – Erika is your girl.  No fewer than 28 completions this season makes her the best at what she does.  However her crown could be at risk depending on how some of these rookies develop in the future.

Notable Mentions/Subs:

  • Émile De’Manning, Carcassonne Province Paladins:  A rookie with an eye for the pass and can pick out nearly anyone on the pitch.  This kid is good.  Wait for his second season!
  • Ludual Sharpfoot, Darkfleet Assasins:  He didn’t make the first XI as he seems to be a player still in development.  Learn how to block and we’ll talk again in the future.
  • Doggy, Monster Mashers: Werewolves are normally great players in the HDWSBBL and he showed all the promise of his predecessors with a good all-round performance.  Other players just outshone him this season.
  • Fluffy, Slaaneshi Big Society:  Everyone has a favourite “Big-Guy” and this is mine.  He causes chaos and confusion everywhere he goes and is exceptionally good at killing other Minotaurs as The Ox and Barbarr will tell you (we should have told them there’s only room for one Bull in this stud farm!).
  • Ezra Scariet, Fairy Wizards Guild: The best player from the Shield winners.  He scores, he passes, but he doesn’t like playing with anyone else on his team and this was the reason why he was left on the bench this time around.

Congratulations to all the players mentioned.  It was a fantastic season.

I would invite all of you to post below your player of the season and their most memorable moments of the season.  Congratulations again and I look forward to seeing you all next season for the 10th Anniversary of the HDWSBBL!

See you pitch-side,

The Doc

Superbowl IX: The Preview

Hello Sports Fans and Coaches of the HDWSBBL,

Are you ready for the Superbowl!  In the Crown Jewel match of the HDWSBBL the Arkhan Black Towers play the Black Mountain Bloodjaws in a winner takes all chance to get their hands on the most coveted trophy.  It is the first time these two wonderful rookie teams have met in a match which could be the closest and most entertaining of the entire season!  Let’s look at the teams and how they made it to the HDWSBBL Superbowl Final.

Team Overview:

Arkhan Black Towers

What a rookie season the Towers have had.  11 wins, 1 draw and only 1 loss on their way to the New World Conference Play-Offs 2514/15 championship and the The Sly Sports Challenge Cup 2514/15.  Along the way they have beaten the much fancied Ashut Titans, the brilliantly rebuilt and coached Oxmoor Savages (three times), and the OWC finalists of the Darkfleet Assasins.  Scoring 25 touchdowns and causing 31 casualties in 13 games the Towers have excelled in taking the weaknesses of their opponents and using it to their advantage.  13 men on the roster with emerging stars coming from their Mummies and Ghouls “The Doc” has guided them well and has again made it to the Superbowl for a 3rd time in 4 seasons.  However, “The Doc” has always lost to the eventual Superbowl winner.  Will it be 3rd time lucky?  With a Spike! Magazine rating of 257 it could be destiny that he lifts the trophy this time.

Black Mountain Bloodjaws

There are only so many superlatives you can have about the Bloodjaws 2nd half to the season.  It all started after they beat the Darkfleet Assasins on their way to lifting, the challenge cups little brother, The Sly Sports Vase Championship 2514/15.  Since then they haven’t looked back: 8 wins and 1 draw in a season where they have won 9 from 14, drawn 4 and lost only 1 to the Oxmoor Savages.  Now they have added the Old World Conference Play-Offs 2514/15 to the trophy cabinet after beating Darkfleet Assasins in the OWC final and the veteran (and favourites for the OWC championship) Temper Bay Marauders 4-0(!) in the semi-final.  They are led by the quartet of blitzers who take care of business every time they hit the field and supported by 4 hulking black orcs.  Only 11 players who have also scored 25 touchdowns and 42 casualties and with a huge bank balance they have a Spike! magazine rating of 304.  Watch out they could cause this to be a slobberknocker!

There is a bit of a gap here in SPP and team development and this can all be traced back to the conferences that each team played in.  Whilst the Towers had the Ashut Titans, Oxmoor Savages and Monster Mashers the Bloodjaws had 2 types of elf and the norse of the Valhallen Vixen’s.  The casualties racked up and the Orcs got better at what they do best – hitting things.   However, if you look at the teams make up they are more equal with most players having two bits of added training to their arsenal.  Looking at the top player stats you can see that it is remarkably close.  Where the teams do differ are the team styles.  No passes from the undead and a handy 9 completions from Vrograg Spleen Chucker shows the Orcs are not afraid to mix it up.  Could this be the thing that tips the balance? Well it worked against the Assasins.

Tactics

The Arkhan Black Towers will be looking to keep it as fluid and as versatile as possible.  This is what they excel in.  Finding a way to get through no matter how it happens.  Can they hit? Yes two mummies can hit as hard as anyone in the game and alongside the super strong zombie in the front line have gone toe-to-toe with Chaos and Chaos Dwarves and come out victorious.  Can they ball handle? Yes.  Just look at those TD figures.  So how will they play?  On offence watch for the pain to be rained down from the front line (1) as the mummies hit the Black Orcs/Linemen.  The ghouls will play the ball (2) and move it to safety waiting for a gap before running it through to the Endzone (3).  Orc defence will rely on remaining standing and hitting back pushing the undead away.  If they can injure a few players along the way that could be very useful to tie down the faster Towers players.

Towers Offence Superbowl

Orc offense will be about pain and grinding with the added advantage of being able to have the passing option.  A quick touchdown is not out of the question if you have a pass and then a handoff just to dash to the endzone.  The Black Orcs and Blitzers will line up to hit the front line (1) whilst Vrograg Spleen Chucker gets the ball (2).  Now comes the choice – form “Da Cage” or look to pass and it will be dictated by the amount of time is on the clock.  A full half to score and the Boyz will roll down the field.  Only less than a quarter left and it will be passing time.  What and option to have!

Bloodjaws offence Superbowl

Conclusion

A prediction?  Well I can’t give one for score.  Being one of the coaches in this Superbowl match I don’t want to say it will be one thing or another.  What I can say as it will be close.  Orcs vs Undead normally is and it will take at least 2 touchdowns from one team to win this one.  Casualties could be critical and the Orcs are built to hurt but if the Towers can get a couple off the pitch that will change the picture all together.  One’s thing for certain whoever wins this one will certainly deserve the title.

Playoff Final Preview: Assasins VS Bloodjaws

Greetings Blood Bowl fans direct from HDWSBBL World Stadium.

We are anxiously waiting the Conference playoff finals and none more so than the Darkfleet Assasins VS Black Mountain Bloodjaws OWC final.  These two rookies have met twice before this season but will this match be a repeat of previous games or will the Assasins be able to get on the scoresheet and record a win after the dust settles?  This match should bring fireworks and possibly the occasional fireball to the HDWSBBL World Stadium.

Team Overview:

Darkfleet Assasins

The HDWSBBL knows a few things about Dark Elf teams with the Korand Kar Corsairs and the Brimstone Flayers both being multiple champions.  They are adaptable, reasonably tough and have a wonderful selection of players which can change the way a game unfolds.  What is different from those teams to this one?  These elves are extra tough in the block.  They know how to Guard each others back and this with the natural movement of elves this could make them exceptionally good at moving the opposition out of their way before giving a killer pass or handoff. The bad news is that they have only won 1 match in the last 5 which was the OWC playoff semi-final.  A Spike! magazine rating of 187 signals that they will be able to put up a good fight on the day.

Black Mountain Bloodjaws

It has been a wonderful 2nd half to the season for the Bloodjaws.  8 games unbeaten and the Sly Sports Vase in hand already.  The Bloodjaws are the form team in the Old World Conference with 22 TDs and 38 casualties caused in 13 games.  They are led by the quartet of blitzers who have scored 21 of the 22 TDs and 23 casualties.  It is an amazing return from 4 players.  Only 11 players but with a huge bank balance they have a Spike! magazine rating of 271!  They really are the team to beat in the OWC.

This match seems to be all about 2 players.  Ludual Sharpfoot vs Korgak the Krazy.  Each seems to be the go-to player for their respective teams and has done damage against the opposition.  Here though it is hard to ignore the Orc powerhouse of Korgak the Krazy; 10 TDs and 9 Cas.  That is a good return for any player and him with his other match hardened players look to be favourites here.  The Assasins have not focussed on one or two players in the team preferring a policy of spreading the TDs, casualties and completions between no less than 9 players.  This  has ensured that all the players in the team are adept at what they do and can be a match for anyone but will require good solid and sometimes risky tactics to beat this Orc team.

Tactics

I think the Bloodjaws will do exactly what they have aimed to do every game and that is cause pain!  They are built to injure other teams with 4 black orcs and 4 blitzers who are trained to hit and this is their primary weapon.  Saying that with a practiced thrower and two blitzers who have learnt how to ball handle as well as any elf they also have a passing option to their game.  Don’t look to far from the match all starting with the pain being brought to the Dark Elf front line (1) before Vrograg Spleen Chucker fetches the ball (2) and the blitzers/linemen form the shield for the ball carrier (3).  This will give the team the most attacking options with the handoff possibility to both blitzers for them to run into a strong position.

Bloodjaws off 2

Defensively the Dark elves will have two options which are all ways there (1) stand off and force the orcs to go around or through you.  This will slow them up and if you can reduce the blocking that they can do the elves will have a chance to prevent the score.  The alternative is (2) Rush the thrower.  If the kick is deep or close to the side line LOS an option is to prevent the thrower/blitzers getting the ball.  Get players around the ball force a mistake and then get the ball.  It could be risky as the elves could get hurt but it could pay dividends.

Dark Elf offence should be varied.  As elves they can do anything with the ball.  A hand off, a quick/short pass and this team can be so far away the Orcs couldn’t be able to catch them.  It is my thoughts that the elves should try and drag the Orcs around.  Firstly the Assasins should move to get assists and create a potential screen (1) the Orcs are then blitzed to one side (2) creating an open side line then with the Witch elf keep that area open for the runner to move down (3).  However, with the runner an expert in getting rid of the ball when under threat you could see the ball transferred to the other side of the pitch if the Orcs over commit to preventing the score which would take the Bloodjaws out of the match and kill some of the clock.

Assasins offence

Bloodjaws defense is about pain and prevent or about letting the Assasins score.  If they push the Dark Elves around enough they may be able to get a hit at the Assasins runner but with the player talented at getting rid of the ball it could all come to nothing.  They will have to not overcommit or the Bloodjaws could find themselves out thought and in a bad position with the clock running down. Because of this it could be a tactic to let the Assasins score and get the ball back in hand to beat them again.

Conclusion

I would like to say this one will be close.  Unfortunately I can’t.  I can only see one winner here and it is the Bloodjaws.  They are strong, versatile and are on a wonderful run of form.  Will it be a close score line? Yes it will be 1-0, 2-1 or 2-0 but everyone saw how they destroyed the Temper Bay Marauders and it could happen again.  This leads us to the other question – Can the Darkfleet Assasins win? my opinion is Yes.  Without doubt.  They have the elements within the team to move that ball and get the TDs which could make the Bloodjaws panic and force mistakes.  Give the Assasins a bit of the rub of the green and it could be their day.  I just think it won’t be.  The safe gold is on the Bloodjaws to go to the Superbowl this time out.  Good luck to both teams.

Season 9 – Week 12 – World Series, Cup and Vase Treble

Right it’s another round of games where basically everyone is just getting all of their ducks in a row for the post season by and large. What am I saying? I’m saying draws everywhere with not much in the way of a good thumping. Of course it’s not all like that, the first lot of Silverware was up for grabs, and for a second it almost looked like the Vixens might win it! – I know, I know, we couldn’t believe it either.

There’s a fair few games to get through here, so I’ll try to cover as many as I can.

Comets Vs Paladins

I’ve been singing the praises of the Pallies all year, and whilst it looks likes the Comets are going to be another one-year wonder team we sometimes get (see: Damage Inc, any Slaan team, etc) I personally think they also haven’t done too badly. Certainly they haven’t done as bad as the Ankle Biters did, whose form was so bad that they allegedly got eaten when they returned to Skavenblight. Anyway, there was a fair bit of play this game, which ended in a two-all draw with the Paladins clawing back from behind.

Brewers vs Vixens

If the Brewers managed to lose this, there was a slim chance that the Burners could have failed to get into the Shield this year. For a second the Vixens looked as if they might win it but the Brewers, whose performance has been getting ropier and ropier as the games go on, managed to secure the draw and a place in the playoffs with the Burners in the shield.

Fairy Wizards Guild Vs Mashers

I’m not really sure what happened here, best I can tell the Mashers took pity on the Fairies and let them have a win. It doesn’t make a blind bit of difference; the Fairies were shield-bound long before this point, but whatever.

Bloodjaws vs Mycean Marauders

The Mickies have had a really rough gauntlet of teams to face at the end of the season, it hasn’t helped that this new team doesn’t look likely to find its feet even now. Their coach must be wondering why they even started the team up in the first place. The fact they managed to score a TD at all, especially against a bruiser of a team like the Jaws, must be considered impressive. Oh sure, the Jaws won 2-1 but still – impressive.

Black Towers Vs Oxmoor Savages

The Towers have really cemented themselves as one of top teams of this season. Not literally of course, Undead and Cement don’t mix as well as you’d think – It’s a long story. Anyway, it was a fairly punchy game, but Towers came out on top against the Savages despite losing 3 players permanently. Time will tell if these losses will be felt in the post season but considering they have money to burn I doubt it.

Temper Bay Vs Nordringen Titans

Apparently the Mads found the time to give the Titans a drubbing. None of the Titans apparent skill they showed against the Brewers was evident here as the Mads gave them the rough manhandling, that to be fair to the Titans, they’ve been giving out to everyone else with impunity as well.

Blackburners Vs Darkfleet

The Burners will be pleased to have gotten a draw with their current run of form, and not taken any losses. Neither side was looking to see their fortunes improve or decrease with this game, and there would have probably been a LOT more fouls taking place if the Ref hadn’t moved in early and pre-emptively booted Bogoff, the Burners Professional Fouler, off the pitch. Bogoff filed a complaint claiming he was “just going to help that blitzer get back up” but if you believe that I have some real-estate in Tilea for you to look at.

Big Society Vs The Hutt

All I heard was that the Hutt got their revenge 2-1 for their humiliating defeat in the Championship Cup earlier. This loss most likely puts Big Society into the Shield, something I’m sure the OTHER Chaos Dwarf team, the Blackburners will be “pleased” to hear.

Meanwhile over in the Vase:

Things heated up as the Vixens pushed aside the Brewers in the semi. The Brewers were one of the teams that at the start of the Vase were one of the favourites but experience paid dividends and the Vixens pulled the win out of the bag.

Other firm favourites for the Vase -the Bloodjaws saw no sign of wavering. Dispatching the Paladins 2-0 with a cavalcade of casualties to go with it. Pallies did well but not well enough to get passed these orcs.

This leads us to a Vixens vs Bloodjaws final. Who will win this one? Would anyone bet against the Jaws? I don’t think so!

Over on the Challenge Cup meanwhile, after proving lightning doesn’t strike twice, the Black Towers beat the Comets 2-1 and progressed into the finals. Meanwhile Oxmoor put an end to Big Societies amazing luck at long last, booting them from the competition in a 2-1 win.

This means that we are now looking at an Undead – Chaos final between the Black Towers and the Oxmoor Savages.  Who’s going to win? Black Towers took recent casualties, nothing too serious aside from the loss of a Wight, but the Oxmoor have finally put themselves back together since their drubbing from the Hutt and they look like they’re back on form. If the Towers hadn’t taken those casualties I’d have said them for sure, but their possible reduced numbers might be just be the thing that swings it Oxmoors way.

-JoJo

Finals Match Preview: Sly Sports Challenge Cup and Vase

Hello and welcome Blood Bowl fans,

A final is a precious thing in Blood Bowl.  The glimmering trophy, the rampaging fans, the glory of kicking the teeth out of your opponents skull… hmmm wonderful.  Now it has all come down to these two matches for the 4 teams involved.  Who will be victorious in their quest to lift the trophy?  This week we preview the Sly Sports Challenge Cup final between the Arkhan Black Towers and the Oxmoor Savages and the Sly Sports Vase final between the new orcs on the block Black Mountain Bloodjaws and the veteran Valhallen Vixen’s.

Team Overviews

Arkhan Black Towers

Well the Towers have done very well this season.  Sewing up their division with a match to spare and reaching the Sly Sports Cup final.  20 TDs scored and 25 casualties caused means they are looking good and have time to concentrate on this prestigious final cup match.  They certainly look like a team with potential especially when you consider they have beaten their final opponents 2-1 in the World Series.  This did not come at a cost though as the Savages lived up to their name killing 3 players on the way.    Will they have enough this time around to beat the Chaos horde again and lift the trophy? A Spike! Magazine Rating of 195 puts them in pole position for the final.

Oxmoor Savages

Well it just goes to show the down right spirit in this team and in the coach that the Savages have made the final.   Their woes have been well documented but they are back and performing wonders on the field including 3 Tower players last match and throwing a horrendously difficult long pass for a TD in their last World series match.  They have qualified for the playoffs and would have been challenging for the top spot if they hadn’t had those two losses in the middle of the season.   Not to be underestimated with “The Ox” at the helm their Spike! Magazine Ranking of 166 shows these boys can play.  Bring on the Final!

Black Mountain Bloodjaws

Now not much was thought about these new Orcs in the beginning of the season.  A win, a loss and a draw in the 1st 3 matches followed by 2 more draws made them seem very ordinary.  However, this seems to have been a false sense of security with a subsequent winning streak of 4 matches in all competitions these boyz are taking the Vase by storm and giving Temper Bay Marauders a run for their money in the World Series (where they are unbeaten).  A Spike! Magazine Ranking of 192 means these Orcs are looking for Silverware!

Valhallen Vixen’s

These girls and guys from the frozen north are certainly the old veterans of the league this year.  Led off pitch by the less than experienced “The Janitor” from the TNN and on it by Erika they have started to get a little head of steam up and the Vase final place is not as much as a surprise as we should all think with 3 wins and a draw from their last 5 games.  Keep an eye on star runner Viktor as we all know he is the real source of power in this team.  A Spike! rating of a massive 306 could show what the old guys are all about!

There is a gulf in playing ability here.  The Towers have multiple top scorers, players who cause casualties and a super-strong zombie.  The Savages have Kent and Pennington who drive this team forward.  The warriors are strong and now know how to block but in comparison the Savages are down in strength here.  How will they overcome the differences?  Coaching and induced star players, weapons and dirty tricks.  All could have a massive impact on the game as the chainsaw did in the league match.  Don’t forget anything can happen on the pitch and one or two things could change the game entirely.

It is simple to compare the two teams players.  There are a set of good rookie orcs against a massive set of veterans culminating in Viktor, Kirkus and Erika.  Stop the big three from the Vixens and I think that the orcs will do remarkably well.  Inga and Enrica are good understudies on the pitch but will “The Janitor” look to use them in place of his three stars?  I am not sure.  We also know that the Bloodjaws coach likes to hit, 5 Casualties on one blitzer in half a season shows how much pain he likes to deliver.  The orcs look to be the heavier hitters and this could sway the match but will the skills of the Vixens star be enough to get around this?

 Tactics

Two matches again in this preview so lets look at the underdog tactics this time which could have game changing consequences.

Oxmoor Savages VS Arkhan Black Towers

Savages offense

“The Chuck!” was a move that the Savages used in the last league match to perfect results as in two turns the Chaos had the ball in the endzone with the undead looking around going “Whaaaat?”.  The Warriors on the line do some initial damage before one of them walking up and taking position on the wights (1).  The beastmen then blitz shifting the wight out the way and creating space for the receiver (2).  Now ready to pass on the next turn the ball carrier grabs the ball and chucks it to the open receiver who runs for the endzone (3).  Powerful? Yep.  Quick? Yep.  Dangerous? certainly! It works and they get a TD from nowhere.  Fail and they are giving the ball back to the undead.  Cross your fingers as this could change games.

Black Mountain Bloodjaws Vs Valhallen Vixen’s

Bloodjaws offense

“DA KRUNCH!” is a speciality of the Bloodjaws coach and in this match against smaller armour he will relish in getting his players to have as many hits as possible.  This line up shows that with all that huge muscle of the Black orcs and the skilled blitzers the Bloodjaws will push the hapless Vixen down the line until they get hurt.  Once one is down the rest will follow as they push the players to one side of the line of scrimmage (1).  Now with little resistance the remaining Black Orc will blitz a Ulfwerner to try and get an early strength advantage over the remainder of the team (2).  Once this is accomplished and the Vixens numbers are dwindling it will be easy to grab the ball and form “Da Cage” as they roll down pitch destroying as many opponents as possible.   The only downfall for them here is will the commitment to pure power leave them too weak at the back to stop an early blitz or pressure on the thrower?  A chance for a brave Vixen I think to earn some glory!

Conclusion

Savages vs Towers for the Sly Sports Cup and I think this match will be close but is going towards the Towers.  The power, speed and versatility of the players will overcome the chaos horde to lift the Cup with a 2-1 score mirroring the World Series match.  It’ll be a good match with plenty of entertainment but expect the gold in Undead hands at the end of the night.

In the Vase it will be very close.  It is a simple case of can the orcs do enough damage OR will the Vixens be brave enough to throw players at the ball before it reaches the safety and security of the cage?  It will be a great game and the coaches will have to think how to get the best out of their players and prevent the game plan of their opposite number.  However, I am not sure which will happen first.  I think both teams will score but the longer it takes the Vixens to score the worse it is for them as the bodies mount up!  I will take a punt and say Viktor and the gang get it done by the skin of their teeth 2-1 with a pass and dash winning the game and the vase for the veteran Vixens.

Season 9 – Week 11 – What? Where? How? Did I miss something?

Right. Look. Get out whilst you can, it’s all about to go to pot. The lizzies are already boarding the aztec spaceships to escape, the rats are everywhere, the dwarves are all dead, all of the volcanoes are exploding, Gnobbla’s dead, Archaeon has found a headbutt proof helmet and Malekith is the Phoenix Lord. It’s literally the end of the world.

Here’s some match reports, I don’t know when they happened, to be frank who cares? we’re going to be lucky if the universe even exists by the time we get to the post season.

Mads vs Darkfleet

Darkfleet went up against the solid wall of Temper Bay and bounced quite literally in some cases. In the first half the Mads were thumping left and right and ground their way to their customary halftime touchdown. Then things in the second half took a turn for the strange. A massive and chaotic scrum formed in the Mads half and no less than three times the Elves tried to throw the ball out, only to see it bounce back in without fail.  Unable to get the ball, seemingly fixed to that one spot in the pitch to the endzone, fleet finished the game goalless.

Brewers Vs Titans

By the end of the first half the Titans were 1-0 down and everything was pretty much as expected. Come the second half however some kind of switch must have been pulled as the Titans displayed more violence and skill than they had done all season. Scoring an unprecedented two times and injuring four of the Brewers! It was all the Brewers could do to hold this now supposedly resurgent team to a draw and even then by the closest and flukiest of margins. The Brewers must be sighing in relief at that. Who would ever have expected such a performance from the Titans?

Paladins Vs Big Society

Pallies pull ahead here, finally proving what we’ve been saying about this team all season. It must be admitted that perhaps things wouldn’t have quite gone their way as much if Big Society hadn’t been trying to get the mythical and completely fictional “Most Fouls” award (despite my ardent lobbying) and instead found themselves in the running for “most red cards in a match” award. In the second half, Big Society completely fell apart, allowing the Paladins to finish a comfortable 3-0.

Mashers vs The Hut

“The Hut” switched to scoring over casualties? Whilst it’s a shame not to see an entire dugout full of dead and dying, points are points I suppose. It’s clearly early days for these new and radical ideas their coach is having as the “The Hut” only held the Mashers to a draw.

Fairies vs Towers

Some games are massive upsets that nobody could ever have seen coming. Results that cause men to spit-out their frosties and result in eyebrows being elevated to untold heights.

This was not one of those games.

The Fairies brought out their highly controversial “passing to the other team” plays with predictibly dire results, and some idiot allowed the Elf player to realise just how important she is to the team as she spent the entire game refusing to pass to anyone else. The Towers were perfectly happy to let the Fairies win the game for them, and if anything the 2-0 result was the height of restraint and charity from them.

Comets Vs Oxmoor

Neither side was really willing to get stuck in here, the Comets wanted to avoid casualties at all costs in their first game against the Savages and the Oxmoor themselves were still nursing injuries from previous games and were thankful for the chance to break out of the injury spiral. With neither side willing to throw a punch the game dissolved into shameless and girlish passing and running plays where both sides scored twice. Honestly, I fell asleep for this one. Hopefully things will be different in their upcoming cup game.

Blackburners vs Vixens

Since this game didn’t actually matter to the Burners, they never really tried to do anything. Victor was more than comfortable with that and got himself some more goals to add to his stats. Burners are looking at a chance at reclaiming the shield this year, which would be a league first, but they’ve got to remember how to actually play before that.

Brewers vs Mycean Marauders

After a near shock against the Titans, the Brewers were no doubt hoping for another easy game from the Myckies. Luckily the Elves were perfectly willing to comply, and the Brewers took an early lead.until they returned the favour allowing the Myckies to score, before sealing the deal with a 2-1 win.

Honestly I don’t know what’s going on with this round, nobody was actually giving a shit or playing properly. Frankly I don’t know why I even bothered to turn up.
