Welcome to the new era!

Welcome one and all to the new era of the HDWSBBL. After 15 years (and 14 Seasons, 1,107 games, 65 Competitions, 128 teams, and 2,456 players) the league is going through a little reboot!

Not quite the full Marvel Comics style reboot where the players have a different past, but one where we embrace the new Blood Bowl ruleset and focus on the new legends that will be created over the coming years.

The site has received its first proper make over after 13 years which was long overdue. There are still a few kinks to work out, but those will be addressed in due course (not 13 years, I promise!).

If you wish to go back and see the site as it was, frozen in time at the end of the 14th season, then a permanent archive is available.

For now settle down, and strap yourself in for the 15th Season of the HDWSBBL!

Season 15 Kicks Off – Blood Bowl Sevens!

No we haven’t quite vanished yet folks, we have just been ramping up for our new season but more importantly our newest variant of Blood Bowl to be officially sanctioned by the HDWSBBL, Sevens!

Sadly the Grots said we couldn’t host both on the same website, so we had to compromise and branch off a new sub-domain to host all of the Sevens goodness. You can catch all the action by heading over to;

Everything is all ready for the off on Thursday 5th March 2520 included a detailed preview of the competition, an insight to the teams and the full fixtures list to plan your evening around each match and the best part is, it’s all brought to you live by the HDWSBBL.

Do not fret however folks. The team here at the main league have already got some great things lined up for this our 15th year! So keep checking back here or keep up to date with all the action on our BookFace page here.

See you on the Gridiron Sportsfans!

Who is the best coach in league history?

To break the fourth wall for a bit, one of the most common arguments is “who is the best coach in the HDWSBBL”. At present we have ways of tracking statistics across teams, seasons, competitions etc, but there is no way for coaches to really take a look and see how they are doing on the whole. Until now

If you head over to the Owners page you will able to see the full details of your performance in the HDWSBBL. Who was your best team? How many championships have you won? How many Star Players have you used? How many players have died under your watch? All of these (and more) can now be discovered.

One thing I did want to add is the statistic of “coach you have faced the most often” but sadly I need to make a few database changes for that unless you want to wait a good 30 seconds for it to generate! I will save that for next time along with more detailed statistics of races so the “Best coach of a race” debate can have accurate figures to use / hide from 🙂

I believe I can speak for Alex when I say thank you to all the coaches, regardless of if you have been here year after year, or if you only managed a few games. When we started this league way back in 2006 we had no idea it would still be going strong (I did hope I would win a few more games then I did but nevermind). Hopefully, there are many more seasons to come.

I also know this website is sometimes held together with more bandages then Ramtut the 3rd, and slower than a Beast of Nurgle so I appreciate the patience while we slowly get things up to date (If the website was a living being it would be old enough to be in secondary school!).

So go forth, have a look, and remember to torment anybody who has worse stats than you – if they have a problem they can settle it with a good old game of Blood Bowl!

And so it begins….

Greetings all you Blood Bowl coaches, fans and cheerleaders,

It is nearly upon us – HDWSBBL season 10!

This year I will be continuing with the match previews and analysis that we started last season BUT with an added twist I will be taking your commentaries and in-depth analysis and placing them on the HDWSBBL news site and Warzone.  Will Kai Konami predict the future winners and losers of the season? Has Jo-Jo found his lost golum’s limbs?  Which piece of wonderful insight can Shigglez bring to the league? Will that Bretonnian bloke Jancleod ever stop bothering me!  We shall see as the season unfolds.

See you all pitchside

HDWSBBL at NAF Championships 2515

Hello Blood Bowl Coaches and Fans alike,

Last weekend coaches from around the Old World flocked to Albion to partake in the greatest and largest Blood Bowl tournament – the NAF Championships.

The games were thick and fast but when the dust settled the results for the HDWSBBL coaches were

  • The Doc 3-1-2 with the Naggaroth Black Crows Dark Elves and 51st place (from 150 coaches)
  • Sandwich 2-0-4 with the Gog Magog Gladiator ogres and 129th place overall but 9th for casualties caused.

But performance of the weekend was 2514 Superbowl Champion Purplegoo (rumoured to be making a return to the HDWSBBL after a season away) who finished 3rd coaching Wood Elves.

Congratulations to all who attended and we hope to get more HDWSBBL-ers to the next NAFC in 2516!

See you pitchside,

The Doc.
