Season 12 – Round 2 – Challenge Cup

BH: More Blood Bowl action for you folks as we round up tonight’s proceedings in the second round of the Challenge Cup.

Suderholm Snow Leopards 2 (2) – 1 (2) Meadow Glade Mustangs

The Mustangs found another wall of humans to once again refuse them points. Although they managed to keep the scoreline down this week they failed again to really out play their opponents like Wood Elves are a custom to. The Snow Leopards played well and although they didn’t take too many Elves out at the start they slowly built up the injury list for the Mustangs apothecary. The Leopards will be celebrating for sure after getting a good first win in the competition.

Averheim Eagles 1 (1) – 3 (1) The Deadly Spawn

The Deadly Spawn increase their lead in the competition after a tremendous display of agility and another three touchdowns to please the away fans. The Eagles Ogre caused many of the turnovers for them on which the Spawn capitalised on. At present the Spawn are the hot favourites to win the entire thing and their first Championship, with displays like that they surely will.

Pastafarians 1 (4) – 2 (3) Arcani\’s All Sparks

With many players out from the first round blood bath, the All Sparks bounced back and defeated the Orcs, but only just. Some slimy play and a huge amount of luck got them the all important winning touchdown. The Orcs did cause another riot of casualties for the All Sparks but that didn’t slow them down. A very unlucky match for the Pastafairans and another injury crisis for the Sparks to deal with. Although they should be able to hire another two Rat Ogres!

Khorne Stars 1 (1) – 1 (2) Hashut Hairy Hammers

A very close match between two teams who are equally matches in most areas of their games. It became clear that it would be a stalemate of a match as each team jostled for positions trying to carve some form of attacking play. Had their been more time in this match one team would of won it, but alas the draw was all they could muster in the time allowed.

Season 12 – Round 1 – Challenge Cup

BH: Well folks the first round of the Challenge Cup got underway and we have full coverage right here of each match. There was certainly a lot going on in the matches so lets take a closer look at what happened!

Arcani\’s All Sparks 1 (2) – 2 (4) Khorne Stars

The All Sparks go off to the dream start after scoring a very early touchdown before the Stars could even begin! They even managed to take out a couple of their players as well, but this was to be the only enjoyable part of the match for them. Once the Khorne Stars, who made their debut in this match, organized themselves and started playing they gave the Skaven what for. The Lead didn’t last very much longer than the remaining time in the first half, but the Sparks were indeed Sparked out by the roughening of the Stars. With very little in terms of outfield players it was only a matter of time before the Khorne Stars strolled in the second touchdown during the second period while in the meantime making sure that no Spark players were left standing. A very entertaining match for those fans who detest Skaven.

The Deadly Spawn 3 (1) – 1 (2) Suderholm Snow Leopards

Both teams have previously performed fairly well in previous seasons but this was the best opportunity for them to gain a Championship Cup. The Norse started off the better of the two but their lack of inflicting any injuries on the Spawn caused them real headaches on the pitch, along with leaping Slann everywhere they really had their work cut out. The Spawn ran the Leopards ragged and they just could not keep up with them. Had they of taken a few players out it would of been a very different story. A very good start to the Deadly Spawn who were indeed very deadly in this match.

Hashut Hairy Hammers 1 (1) – 0 (1) Pastafarians

A slog of a match between two giants. The Pastafarians were the favourites in this match, but the off season training (if there were any) didn’t pay off for them. Anything they tried went wrong in this roller coaster of a match. The Hammers, making their debut, kept the Orcs on their toes the entire match and almost looked like they had even played this game before. A close but deserved win for the Hammers gives them a perfect start.

Averheim Eagles 4 (3) – 2 (1) Meadow Glade Mustangs

In a match which involves Elves one can expect a flurry of touchdowns and dazzling plays. However the Eagles had different ideas when they chucked the Elf playbook into the faces of the Mustangs and out-elfed them! The Mustangs did have some terrible luck on their side, nothing the rookies did went well and when it did the Eagles, rookies as well, took their opportunities and it paid off massively for them. The Eagles went on to score a whopping four touchdowns giving them a real edge in the tiebreakers. A team to surely watch out for if they keep playing like this.

BH: That concludes the first round matches! The next report will be later than normal due to a match being rescheduled during the weeks break. But stayed tuned for more action next week in the other three matches!

Season 11 – Weeks 2-5 – Monthy Roundup!

BH: My word!!! It’s been crazy trying to get the gits behind the scenes to write down our thoughts and now we have to totally rewrite the entire thing!

LG: I knowz wot you mean short man. Dem admins iz gonna pay! (Stomps out of the room with a 10lb lump hammer).

BH: So what we will do to catch up is review each team in no particular order and round up what they have been up to, it may however turn into a tactics corner for the teams (I am writing this on the fly since Loktar has buggered off!).

New World Conference

White Lighting

Apart from having the wrong spelling of their team name (please refer to the Manhunters!) the Lightning have been having a stormer! With only the one loss to Ragnar’s Raiders they are hot contenders now to win the Conference. Their star player K has also been notching up the touchdowns for the team where they have kept an average of scoring 3 a match! Their only downside is actually having a team to put out, with constant injuries and having to hire in help, if they don’t keep on top of this they could soon be finding their top players out too.

Reptile Dysfunction

It gets bad to worse for the Lizards as they still cannot secure that all important win. It doesn’t mean they aren’t trying hard enough as they managed to claim a point against the Blackwell Tunnel Rats (and they themselves claiming their first point) and they do actually cause a far amount of casualties. But what’s lacking is the team synergy and the overall match tactics. They need to do some serious training in order to get the best out of the team but also to play as one unit. It’s all well smashing things but they need to start caging that ball and using the skinks effectively. My thought however is it may be too late for them to salvage anything from this season and focus on getting those tactics right for next year.

Nahuontl Natterjacks

The Natterjacks started well and turned a few heads in the Blood Bowling world, however they didn’t get them to stand up as a loss and a draw caused all their momentum to stop. The issue they have had is once they are winning they can’t seem to hold that lead, and when they start loosing players they also loose that lead. It’s not uncommon for this to happen but it seems to happen each game. They need to be more careful in keeping their players out of harms way, they can leap around. The Natterjacks still have a chance to make the Championship but they need to defend better.

Ragnar’s Raiders

A slow start for the Raiders saw them near the bottom of the table, but after the loss against the Ravens the team seems revitalised! And all for the better going on a three match winning streak. To top it all off their Snow Troll almost pulled off a Bloodgate! They now find themselves near the top with only White Lighting in their path, a slip up from them could see them hitting top. However the Conference is still very tight with only a few points separating the teams. They need to keep up the hard hitting power and get those wins to keep on the path to the Championship and the Conference title.

Osterwald Ravens

Despite having some good wins the Ravens are struggling to keep any form what-so-ever. Their luck seems to differ from game to game, which is not entirely down to missing players either. Nuffle seems to be rolling a dice for each game they play which is not good new for the Ravens if they want to keep up the race for the title. They can still do it, but they must win the last remaining games they have to stand any chance of it. Any more losses and it could be the League Cup for them.

Kardashian Korsairs

Another team who has had a mixed bag of luck and results. Like the Ravens they need to start winning the matches and fast if they want to make it to the Championship. My feeling is they have to start getting more opposing players off the pitch, and quicker. They have the skills and the players to do this but they need to start doing this and not relying on lucky breaks to score touchdowns. With the skill they have they should be able to do it.

The Deadly Spawn

After a great win against the Ravens the Spawn have done little else. Mainly due to injuries but also down to luck. However they do have a habit of coming back from almost certain death. They need to defend better as their offensive game is pretty good and effective. With the Krokigor in their ranks this should make it easier for them.

The Fury Little Animals

With the two very skill full warriors the Animals should be crushing it, but they also become the biggest target of opponents. The Animals need to come up with alternative plans to score and overcome obstacles if this happens. Also they need to start hitting more things and cause more damage than they already do. They need to watch their back as if they keep loosing matches they will find themselves in the shield.

Blackwell Tunnel Rats

Much like the Lizards they are struggling in the Conference. Mainly through injuries they struggle coping with loosing players. They have to come up with some tactics to deal with this and use their gutter runners more effectively.

Old World Conference

The Chaos Brawl Stars

The Stars are really flying high with a 100% record and smashing teams left right and centre. Three big guys really make all the difference with this team. The only team at present I can see them loosing to is the Patriots. If they beat them the title is theirs!

Greenleaf Shamblers

The poor old Janitor really has had his work cut out for him with this team. Underperforming and not really doing much else. It’s a different kettle of fish when coaching us Halflings. He really needs to focus on getting the offensive right and making his players read the game better. Don’t worry much what the opponent is doing but what his players are doing. Form that lunchbox and rumble down the pitch, use the throw fling play only when you need to score, or desperation.

Bridgetown Yellowbellies

The Yellowbellies are really flying the flag for the Halfling teams in the league. Smashing the record of the Rainbows they are still unbeaten! Insane stuff, could we really see a Halfling team in the Championship? I sure do hope so. They need to get those all important wins to do so, but I believe they do have the power and the hope to do it.

Pastafarians

The Orcs are slowly starting to play like Orcs should play. But they need to start hitting harder and caging the ball more to score. They have a lot of bottle with the passes and the Goblin throwing but they need to work harder on their defensive game to bring home more wins.

The Mousillion Patriots

Another unbeaten team and the only team at present who I feel can challenge the Brawl Stars. It will be a tough match when they play but they have the skill and players to do it.

Sartosa Buccaneers

Where to start with this team. They need to focus more on the game and not so much on hurting the other team. Much like the Ravens they are in no form, and seem to cock up the most simplest of plays. They need to go back to the drawing board and go over their mistakes so they don’t happen again. A real shame as they had the potential to really challenge the top.

Saphery White Towers

Another team who have not fulfilled their potential. With some pretty bad luck in their matches it’s going to be hard for them to re-group and push on. However once they can sort out their tactics and passing game, they really will be unplayable. A hot prospect for sure maybe next season.

Cirque du Gobbo

It’s always fun when a Goblin team are in town, but they just cannot go the distance. Much like a bloke who can’t handle their drink. More weapons and more maiming and they can really push on the make the League cup.

Anlashok Revalations

With 0 points the Elves really cannot Elf. With some embarrassing results they really need to start picking up the ball and just score! They cant even seem to do that well. My advice is to scrap whatever tactics they had and come up with better ones. Either that or watch videos of old Rangers matches to get ideas on how to play properly!

BH: And that wraps up this very overdue round up. Back to normal service next time we hope! Now I just need to head off and find Loktar!

Season 11 – Week 1 – The Journey Begins!

BH: Welcome to the first summary (although very much a late one!) of this years action! Sixteen teams were all in action this week across both NWC and OWC, and if you haven’t seen the results already then this is bumper update for those people. Without further ado, lets begin this.

New World Conference

Reptile Dysfunction 1 (1) – 5 (2) Osterwald Ravens

The Ravens showed quite convincingly that they mean business in the league taking apart a very poor Lizardman team who didn’t have the greatest of luck all match. Ruppel Kurz also started his season off well with a quickfire TD hattrick which the Lizards could do nothing about. Dysfunction did manage to pull a TD back early in the first half but without managing to take any of the Ravens out they were soon out numbered in their own half.

MOM: Ruppel Kurz – Osterwald Ravens. Scoring a TD Hattrick on his debut.

Blackwell Tunnel Rats 1 (1) – 4 (4) White Lighting

Much like the Ravens, White Lighting also showed that they are a force this season. They put a hefty four passed the Tunnel Rats as well as taking four of them out just for good measure. The Rats tried to get back into the match but White Lighting already did the damage.

MOM: K – White Lighting. Scoring a TD Hattrick on his debut.

Ragnar\’s Raiders 1 (4) – 1 (1) The Deadly Spawn

A even contest at the Raiders ground this evening. They quickly took the lead over the Slann and caused a few injuries along the way. But after a missplaced play the Spawn quickly hit back in the second half to draw the match with no reply from the Raiders, they will surely be disappointed to not win this one.

MOM: Tafler – Deadly Spawn. Scoring the TD which drew the match.

Kardashian Korsairs 1 (3) – 1 (1) The Fury Little Animals

Another close match which also resulted in a draw. Throughout the match the Animals outpunched the Elves but they clearly left their spikes in the changing room as they were even out punched by their opponents too. The Korsairs were unlucky not to get a winning TD but the Animals held them off long enough to run the clock down.

MOM: Decar Pyrecleaver – Kardashian Korsairs. Took out two Chaos in spectacular fashion.

Old World Conference

Bridgetown Yellowbellies 1 (0) – 1 (2) The Mousillion Patriots

The Patriots must be kicking themselves after this match. Keeping the Halflings at bay proved to be all too much for them as they in the end drew with the Yellowbellies. The Halflings will be certainly celebrating tonight after that.

MOM: Lupus Varg – Mousillion Patriots. Scored the Patriots first TD and MVP.

The Chaos Brawl Stars 3 (6) – 1 (0) Greenleaf Shamblers

In contrast to the match before, the Chaos Brawl Stars showed how you take apart the opposition, regardless if they are Halflings or not. In a brutal match which saw the Shamblers loosing six players off the pitch the Brawl Stars are really the team to watch this season.

MOM: Loxon Hrill – Chaos Brawl Stars. Ran the show for the team.

Anlashok Revalations 1 (0) – 3 (3) Sartosa Buccaneers

Apart from being “Elved” in the first half, the Buccaneers bullied their opponents to a 3-1 win. Nothing went right for the Revalations apart from their TD. The Buccaneers are another team out to prove a point this season and are already well off the mark to do so.

MOM: Ferdinand Rackham – Sartosa Buccaneers. Threw some amazing passes throughout the match.

Pastafarians 0 (1) – 2 (1) Cirque du Gobbo

The Gobbos showed that with guts, courage and a lot of weapons even the smallest can outshine their opponents. The Orcs cousins certainly showed them how to play, regardless of the use of weapons. Leading the stunty pack the Gobbos are bringing stunty back for all little people.

MOM: Penny Wize – Cirque du Gobbo. He is a maniac with a chainsaw, nothing more needs to be said.

HDWSBBL - Did You Know

Winners in the End

The Tail Slammer where the worst team during the 2508/09 season. In honour of this they had the HDWSBBL shield named after them, namely the Slammer Sheild. Determined to make up for the previous season the head coach whipped and screamed until blue in face to get his team to perform out of their skins in the 2509/10 season. They qualifyed for their own cup sadly but in the end they actually won it! The first team in the history of the shield to have a team win their own cup name. This was also the Slammers first ever Championship Cup, not matter how minor it was.
