The late game in North Division saw the Undead, Grimwood Voodoo taking on the newcomer Norse of Creeping Death. The Norsemen were taking part in their first ever competitive Blood Bowl game and with Undead across the field it promised to be a bash-fest! The Voodoo won the toss and opted to receive, driving a slow, plodding cage along their right flank, a cage which stalled under some serious aggression from Creeping Death, with the Norse team even taking down the ball-carrier at one point, but the Undead have a funny knack of getting back up when put down, which enabled them to drive the ball home at the stroke of half time, 1 – 0 Voodoo. Creeping Death coach Odin knew that changes needed to be made and whatever he said at halftime must have had an effect, despite losing some players early in the drive, the outnumbered Norsemen dug deep and ran in an excellent touchdown to level the scores and give the Voodoo some serious headaches. (Do zombies get headaches?) regardless, the Undead had to score and had only a short time in which to do it, the ball dropped and the cage was formed, again the Norsemen gathered a solid defence and hit back, even KO’ing a mummy along the way, and for a while it seemed as though a draw was the only likely result, but a couple of good blocks can change a game, and so it proved here. The Voodoo cleared the back of their cage and sprinted in the game-winning score just as the ref was blowing for full time! All in all, a hard won victory for the Voodoo, who just about did enough to take all 3 points, Creeping Death will have every right to feel they deserved more after an impressive performance, especially for such an inexperienced team and they will certainly be no pushovers this year.
