Season 12 – Huge Roundup & Final Week Preview

BH: Well folks it’s been an awfully long time! The folks at the HDWSBBL media office are really slacking in bringing you the weekly summaries, so I have decided to take it upon myself to bring you a massive round up and preview for the past few weeks and the upcoming final week. There has been a lot of action and shock results in which at least the other media outlets have been keeping you updated with, but lets take a closer look at the teams and their results. We will preview their upcoming match, show previous results and a small run down of what they have been up. Also we will highlight their Player In-Form, who has accumulated the most SSP’s for the results listed and finally a best and worst potential finish. So lets get right down to this bumper edition!

New World Conference

The NWC has been tightly contested for many weeks with several teams on equal points and the table changing weekly. As of today this is the current standings:

Team Pld W D L TF TA TD CF CA CD PTS
Ghouly Grabbers 6 4 1 1 13 6 7 11 7 4 13
Quenelles Chevaliers 6 4 1 1 10 7 3 9 9 0 13
Warpstone Wanders 6 3 1 2 13 9 4 5 7 -2 10
The Mousillion Patriots 6 3 1 2 8 6 2 14 3 11 10
Vidarheim Thunder 6 1 5 0 10 9 1 7 9 -2 8
Nahuontl Natterjacks 6 1 1 4 10 13 -3 3 10 -7 4
Averheim Eagles 6 1 1 4 8 15 -7 10 8 2 4
Ragnar’s Raiders 6 1 1 4 7 14 -7 8 14 -6 4

Ghouly Grabbers

Previous Results (Week 2-6)

The Grabbers have a mixed bag of results but have kept consistency and an under the radar performance to place them at the top of the table on equal points with the Chevaliers. After the Patriots loss against the Wanderers it seems to be a two horse race between them both. But with them playing the Patriots next week it is a must win match to maintain their top spot and take the Conference Championship. As long as they take a point they are guaranteed at least a top three finish.

Upcoming Match (Week 7)

This will potentially decided the Grabbers fate and if they lift the Conference Championship. The Patriots will also be looking to cause an upset to keep their Championship play off hopes alive.

Best Finish: 1st  Worst Finish: 4th

Player In-Form: Cuna Sillius – #10, Werewolf

Competition P TD CAS INT COMP MVP SPP
New World Conference League 2517/18 6 5 4 0 0 0 23

Gaining SSP’s in every match his key game was scoring a hat-trick against the Natterjacks during week 5. Without a doubt the Grabbers key player.

Quenelles Chevaliers

Previous Results (Week 2-6)

Despite protests from Blood Bowl fans the first Bretonnian team have been enjoying some fine success. Much like the Grabbers they have had a reasonable return in points and are only second to them on touchdown difference. A win will secure them a top finish but also if the Grabbers loose they will take the title as the Patriots and Wanderers cannot catch them if they do. A draw would throw open the entire table with the top four teams able to cause headaches so they must beat the Natterjacks at all costs.

Upcoming Match (Week 7)

If the Chevaliers beat the Natterjacks it’s very likly they will take the Championship. They just need to keep an eye on the Grabbers and Wanderers if they loose.

Best Finish: 1st  Worst Finish: 4th

Player In-Form:  Sir Bedivere le Noir – #3, Blitzer

Competition P TD CAS INT COMP MVP SPP
New World Conference League 2517/18 6 4 1 0 0 0 14

Scoring four of the ten touchdowns for the Chevaliers puts the noble Sir Bedivere as the teams key player. Expect more touchdowns from him to come.

Warpstone Wanderers

Previous Results (Week 2-6)

The Wanderers on and off form has cost them in keeping up the pace with conference leaders, and that loss to the Chevaliers would of hurt. But they now find themselves only three points behind and on equal points along the Patriots, with the better touchdown difference. A key figure in the team this season has not been a rostered player. There use of a Bright Wizard in several matches have been devastating causing at least six injuries with the famous fire ball! And you can bet that if they can they will hire him again for the next match.

Upcoming Match (Week 7)

The Wanderers will need a few things to go their way to try their luck at the title. They will need the Chevaliers and the Grabbers to both loose and for themselves to score more than the Patriots. It could happen, but at the very least they should be looking at a Championship spot if they win.

Best Finish: 1st  Worst Finish: 5th

Player In-Form:  – Stritrikih Deathstar #11, Gutter Runner

Competition P TD CAS INT COMP MVP SPP
New World Conference League 2517/18 5 4 0 0 4 0 16

Sadly a non-rostered player can be featured as a key player (hopefully the Wizards name will come forward for the fan mail!). Needless to say the Gutter Runners are the key to any Skaven team doing well. And Stritrikih with his four touchdowns and four completions shows he is a well balanced all rounder.

The Mousillion Patriots

Previous Results (Week 2-6)

Last years World Championship Champions are really struggling this year. Some unlucky results have seen them way off the mark of where they should be. It’s not as if they haven’t been playing well, apart from week 6!, as they have won three matches against tricky opponents. But they haven’t taken their chances like they did last year. It isn’t over for them just yet though.

Best Finish: 1st  Worst Finish: 5th

Upcoming Match (Week 7)

Much like the Wanderers the Patriots still mathematically have a chance of taking the title still, but they will need to win their match and score more than the Wanderers do. It’s a tall ask but they will be the king makers for the Chevaliers and Wanderers if they beat the Grabbers.

Player In-Form: Albus Lupin – #9, Werewolf

Competition P TD CAS INT COMP MVP SPP
New World Conference League 2517/18 6 1 9 0 0 1 26

Off the back of a good season for Albus, he has really stepped up his game this season. With a crunching nine casualties he really is the the seasons most dangerous player and the Patriots key player to allow his teammates to score.

Vidarheim Thunder

Previous Results (Week 2-6)

The kings of the draw are the most consistent team in the HDWSBBL currently. Slow and steady might be their game, but with the loss of a possible 10pts if they had turned the draws into wins their consistency may cost them. However they still have a chance to make the Super Bowl if results go their way and both the Wanderers and Patriots loose their matches they could sneak in and take the final spot. This is of course they win their final match and not draw it again.

Upcoming Match (Week 7)

They still have a chance of sneaking the third place spot as long as the Wanderers and Patriots loose their matches in which the Thunder will leap frog them by one point and cause a huge upset. They can’t go any lower than 5th so at the very least they will want to make the 4th place spot and have a bye in the League Cup.

Best Finish: 3rd  Worst Finish: 5th

Player In-Form: Mungr Wendosson – #4, Runner

Competition P TD CAS INT COMP MVP SPP
New World Conference League 2517/18 4 3 0 0 0 1 14

Presently the top scorer for the team but faces some competition from his team mate and fellow Runner Hagi Bardsson.

Nahuontl Natterjacks

Previous Results (Week 2-6)

From one end of the table to the other, the bottom three are in a race to secure a League Cup spot. The Natterjacks have not had a memorable season at all. With four straight losses their attempt to make the Super Bowl again are over. However they still have a chance to take a spot in the League Cup. After they broke the loosing streak last week they may have the momentum to beat the Chevaliers and secure a spot. However they wont be out of the woods just yet if the Eagles and Raiders win their match as well. A point may do it for them however again they would be relying on the other results to go their way. At all costs they must win at the very least.

Upcoming Match (Week 7)

The draw against the Thunder cost any chance for the Natterjacks to climb higher in the table than 6th. They will need to ensure they get at the very least a point to avoid dropping to the shield competition. It will be a tight battle for the 6th place spot.

Best Finish: 6th  Worst Finish: 8th

Player In-Form: Hyla Totec -#4, Catcher

Competition P TD CAS INT COMP MVP SPP
New World Conference League 2517/18 5 1 0 0 8 1 16

The catcher has become a hybrid thrower for the team in recent matches also netting a touchdown too. Against the Thunder in which the team drew he completed five completions to help secure this.

Averheim Eagles

Previous Results (Week 2-6)

After the loss on the opening day the Eagles tried to push on. However it has not been the Eagles season this year. With many unlucky results they find themselves with the possibility of being in the shield. However it is not over for them just yet. The battle for the final League Cup spot could be theirs if they win and win convincingly and hope the other two teams succumb to losses.

Upcoming Match (Week 7)

After getting their first league win the Eagles still haven’t done enough to climb out of the bottom two. They could still take that final league cup spot but they have to beat an in form Wanderers team, who will be looking themselves to cause an upset.

Best Finish: 6th  Worst Finish: 8th

Player In-Form: Anselm Mengelberg – #5, Blitzer

Competition P TD CAS INT COMP MVP SPP
New World Conference League 2517/18 6 1 3 0 0 1 14

Causing three casualties and also a touchdown the Blitzer has been critical to the team. He will be looking to splat some rats in their upcoming match to add to his tally of hits.

Ragnar’s Raiders

Previous Results (Week 2-6)

Finally bringing up the rear are the Raiders. Nuffle has certainly cursed them this season as they attempted to better their first season. A three match loosing streak could be their undoing unless they pick themselves up and beat the Thunder in the Norse derby. Anything else then they will be relying on other results to go their way.

Upcoming Match (Week 7)

The Raiders are not confined to the Shield either just yet. Even a point against the Thunder could secure them that final spot. They will need to make sure they win to make sure they will take it. The bottom three will be hard to call.

Best Finish: 6th  Worst Finish: 8th

Player In-Form: Ivar Larsson – #3, Runner

Competition P TD CAS INT COMP MVP SPP
New World Conference League 2517/18 6 3 0 0 1 1 15

Scoring three touchdowns and a completion Ivar has improved in leaps and bounds after being with the team since the formation of it. This has been his season and he will certainly be looking to improve upon this even more in the next match.

Old World Conference

Unlike the NWC the OWC has had three runners for the Championship for most weeks. However a few slip ups by the top teams could cause last minute upsets. Here is the current table standings:

Team Pld W D L TF TA TD CF CA CD PTS
Osterwald Ravens 5 4 1 0 8 4 4 8 8 0 13
The Deadly Spawn 5 3 1 1 11 8 3 1 12 -11 10
Atrocity Exhibition 5 3 0 2 9 4 5 17 3 14 9
Pastafarians 5 2 2 1 8 7 1 8 7 1 8
Grudge Corsairs 5 1 2 2 5 11 -6 6 6 0 5
Bogenhafen Rams 6 1 1 4 12 11 1 8 8 0 4
Chaos All-Stars 5 0 1 4 4 12 -8 6 10 -4 1

With the Rams now finished unless the All-Starz can inflict TEN touchdowns to nill against Atrocity they are in the Shield and the Rams will make the League Cup.

Osterwald Ravens

Previous Results (Week 2-6)

The Ravens have enjoyed a very in-form season on the back of their League Cup Championship from last season. The head coach owes this all down to improved performances in defense but also keeping their feet firmly on the ground and taking each game as it comes rather than getting complacent. As long as they get a point they will claim the Conference Championship. If they loose they want to hope that the Pastafarians do the business on the Spawn to keep them at bay.

Upcoming Match (Week 7)

With the Ravens only needing a point to tie up the Conference they will need to make sure they do the job. With the Spawn keeping up the pace they cannot rely on them to get the result for them.

Best Finish: 1st  Worst Finish: 2nd

Player In-Form: Ludwig Streissener – #8, Catcher

Competition P TD CAS INT COMP MVP SPP
Old World Conference League 2517/18 5 4 0 0 0 1 17

Having had to play second best to Ruppel Kurz last season, he has taken it upon himself to be the best this season. So far so good but Kurz is level with him on touchdowns for the season still.

The Deadly Spawn

Previous Results (Week 2-6)

The Spawn have kept up their pace with the Ravens despite the defeat to Atrocity. Three straight wins and some very fine performances pile the pressure on the Ravens to deliver. However they will need to get a good result against the Pastafarians to keep their place in the top three. If they loose and Atrocity win they will find themselves missing out on the Super Bowl after a very convincing comeback.

Upcoming Match (Week 7)

This will be the highlight of the OWC this week. Both teams are in good form going into this match so it will be down to who will have the most players left on the pitch to go the distance. The Spawn need to be careful otherwise they could end up missing out on the Championship altogether.

Best Finish: 1st  Worst Finish: 4th

Player In-Form: DeFranco – #13, Catcher

Competition P TD CAS INT COMP MVP SPP
Old World Conference League 2517/18 4 4 1 0 0 2 24

The catcher is in fine form going into the final league match. Scoring some critical touchdowns and also becoming the “guy who just clears the ball in a panic to keep the scoreline” he can only go up from here.

Atrocity Exhibition

Previous Results (Week 2-6)

The former Championship winners were the bookies favorites to take the Conference and at the start they were flying high smashing teams left, right and center and leaving the competition in fear. However two poor performances against the Pastafarians and the Ravens leave them sitting third with the possibility of missing out on the Super Bowl play-offs if they loose and the Pastafarians win. They must ensure they beat the All-Starz to avoid the slip up and secure a Super Bowl spot.

Upcoming Match (Week 7)

Having just played their 30th match against the Ravens, Atrocity will be looking to remain in the Championship at a shot to reclaim their title. They may be out of the race for the Conference title but you can be sure they will be making sure they don’t go into the League Cup.

Best Finish: 2nd  Worst Finish: 4th

Player In-Form: Manfred Braingulper – #13, Ghoul

Competition P TD CAS INT COMP MVP SPP
Old World Conference League 2517/18 5 5 1 0 0 0 17

Completing a hat-trick against the Corsiars and a couple more Manfred has been quiet of late, but leads equal only to his Ghoul counterpart in the best players of the season for the team.

Pastafarians

Previous Results (Week 2-6)

The Pastafarians have enjoyed a late run to throw the top three up in the air. They could be the kingmakers in the OWC but they need not concern themselves with this fact, they have a chance to make the Championship play off for the first time in their history, and you can be sure that they will want to make it there too. One to watch in the final week.

Upcoming Match (Week 7)

If they beat the Spawn they will guarantee their spot in the Championship play off. A draw will not do it, as they will need to hope Atrocity loose, and given that they lost the last two matches and they are up against it to get a Championship spot they look unlikely to do this. If they loose they will hold 4th place as it is very unlikely the corsairs will put 7+ past the Ravens but it could mathematically happen.

Best Finish: 2nd  Worst Finish: 5th

Player In-Form: Lin Greeny – #7, Blitzer

Competition P TD CAS INT COMP MVP SPP
Old World Conference League 2517/18 5 2 0 0 2 2 18

Two touchdowns and two completions doesn’t sound a lot, but given the Pastafarians run of  results at the start of the season and both of the touchdowns meaning the team draws rather than looses, you can see why Lin is the best player in the team at this current moment.

Grudge Corsairs

Previous Results (Week 2-6)

The Corsairs have not had the worse debut season than some teams and they will be looking to rebuild for next years season where they can really push on. Playing somewhat unconventionally for Dwarfs they secured their first win in the league the other week against the Rams. They will want to cause an upset against the Ravens, and there will be a lot of fans (Spawn mainly) who will be watching their last match closely.

Upcoming Match (Week 7)

A tough match for the Corsairs, but if they can secure the win, they will cause a big upset all around the OWC. It’s very unlikely that they will put more than 7+ past the Ravens, so its looks like they will be finishing 5th and making it to the League Cup, which is not to be scoffed at.

Best Finish: 4th  Worst Finish: 5th

Player In-Form: Philippe Bequel – #6, Runner

Competition P TD CAS INT COMP MVP SPP
Old World Conference League 2517/18 5 3 0 0 0 1 14

Scoring two against the Rams the other week to secure the teams first win secures this players spot as the in form player.

Bogenhafen Rams

Previous Results (Week 2-6)

Having sealed their fate the other week, the Rams are the first team to finish in the League this season. Sadly it has not gone all to plan for them either, but they can be happy that they will at least compete in the League Cup rather than the shield as they first predicted. They can also take comfort in knowing that the Ravens ended up in the Cup too in their first season after some poor results and went on to win it! It could very well happen to them as well.

Upcoming Match (Week 7)

NONE!

With the Rams all but securing 6th with the All Starz having to score 10+ against Atrocity it’s very likely that they will finish like this.

Best Finish: 6th  Worst Finish: 7th (But very unlikely!)

Player In-Form: Abelhard Helmutsson – #7, Catcher

Competition P TD CAS INT COMP MVP SPP
Old World Conference League 2517/18 6 4 0 0 1 1 18

A very tidy start to a star in the making. He also scored two of the five against the All Starz, he will be one to watch in the next match for sure.

Chaos All-Stars

Previous Results (Week 2-6)

Chaos Pact have never had any sort of luck in the HDWSBBL (apart from the Brawl Stars of course!) so it’s no surprise that the All Starz have not had a very good season at all. Perhaps they had high ambitions as the “Real” All Stars team hence why they decided to use their brand. We believe it is Nuffle cursing the teams for such blatant copyrighting, in which the coach may think twice about it before doing it again. However it’s not all bad, they still have two matches to redeem themselves and take some silverware home.

Upcoming Match (Week 7)

The All Starz are confined to 7th place unless they put more than 10+ against Atrocity also breaking the league record of most touchdowns scored in a single match by a team (currently 7). A highly unlikely outcome but you never know with Blood Bowl….

Best Finish: 6th (But very unlikely!) Worst Finish: 7th

Player In-Form: Duke Luthor von Hawkfire – #2, Marauder

Competition P TD CAS INT COMP MVP SPP
Old World Conference League 2517/18 5 1 0 0 4 1 12

The teams hybrid thrower/runner is the most in form player in the team. Could be a key player for the team in the future and perhaps the next two matches.

And that concludes this bumper round up! Phew….we hope you enjoyed reading it and are looking forward to the final week as much as we are! Leave your comments below to who you think will finish where and anything else on your mind about the final week of the league. See you pitch side!

World Championship Super Bowl VI – Review and Preditction

The time has almost come for the final match of the season, and what a huge match we are going to witness. This years season featured a host of brand new teams and a completely new format shaking up the league once again during it’s six year history. The response has be positive from all teams and there have been some excellent match throughout which will be remembered for all time. The two key ones in my view were the two Conference finals featuring the Brimestone Flayers vs Wee Tree Fellows and Universal Horror vs the Drakwald Defilers. Both matches featured overtime in nail biting moments, delighting fans and throwing all bets out of the window. For those fans that couldn’t make the matches due to some unimportant issue (most likely their wives!) here’s a little recap on the two finals.

The Brimestone Flayers have been the hot favourites from day one with fan and coach alike. But it came to a great shock when at half time the Flayers were 3-1 down to the Fellows, who has finally started to play to their team capability. In the eyes of the critics this was certainly an already won match for the Fellows who would lift their first piece of silverware after four seasons. But the Flayers were not going to give up, with the strength of Kaine they blew the Fellows away and pulled the game back 4-4 making the game head into overtime and the very dangerous golden touchdown. The Flayers were lucky to receive the ball and run in the winning touchdown causing the Fellows to leave the match once again without a Championship Cup. This Championship Cup is the Flayers second and they could very easily get their third after an amazing comeback like that.

Universal Horrors vs Drakwald Defilers

The match between these two was labelled as the slobberknocker of the season, with both teams eager to smash the other it was always going to be an exciting match full of carnage and perhaps dead (killed players that is!). The Defilers were named second favourites and have so far lived up to that expectation, the Horrors who are a new team this season have so far proved that even a rookie team can rise to the top. And to do so in their first season brings back memories of the Corsairs, RSV, The Slammers, Karak Smashers and the Loren Rangers, all whom have won a Championship Cup in their first season. The match was indeed a slog but the Horrors would not stay down for the Defilers, and soon the Horrors found themselves three players up over the Defilers and the possibility of causing a major shock. At full time the game was 1-1 and overtime again ensured for this match. Again whoever received first would indeed have the upper hand and this was the case yet again as the Horrors received and scored the winning touchdown winning their first Championship Cup and booking their place in the Super Bowl.

Closing Comments

The Super Bowl will be a very difficult match to predict given how both teams reached it. So I invite you, the fans, coaches and players, to make your predictions to this match. And perhaps you will certainly do a much better job than me.

So grab your popcorn, your hotdogs and foam gauntlets. Wear your colours with pride, raise your banners high. Buy your tickets and get comfortable. The World Super Bowl is coming next week, and it will melt your face away. A very fond good luck to both teams and here’s to creating history for the league once more!

The Shield: Review and Predictions

The shield, commonly know as the losers cup, hosts only four teams this season. But that won’t stop the action as each team scrambles to gain what pride they have left and win a piece of silverware. Firstly we will re-cap on each team and review how well they did during the World Series this season.

Creeping Death

P W L D TF TA CF CA COMP INT %
World Series 2511/12 11 1 8 2 15 22 8 18 4 0 9

Although currently rated as a team likely to have the shield named after them along with the Lightning Claws, Creeping Death have had one of the most successful seasons as a newcomer. Their coach, Odin, who is new to coaching and the game has shown great promise in his ability to lead a great blood bowl team. They put a lot of teams under pressure by either taking the lead or equalizing in amazing style and class. The only thing that has let this team down was consistence in their normal playing style, if they could maintain the pressure they apply and hold the scoreline they could be one of the most deadly teams in the leagues history. An experience of a season in which they could still walk away with some silverware if they are triumphant in the Shield. Be sure to look our for Gandalf Thor who has so far proved to be invaluable to the teams attack.

Lighting Claws

P W L D TF TA CF CA COMP INT %
World Series 2511/12 11 1 8 2 14 27 16 20 6 0 9

The first Underworld team to enter the HDWSBBL, old veteran Arcarni Spark was hoping he could carry the same good fortune he had with the Tail Slammers. Sadly this was not to be his season as the team went 5 games without a win before finally winning their only match so far against newcomers, Creeping Death. The reason why this team full of sneaky gits remains a mystery even to the expert analytics’s. The team should of done better this season with Arcarni at the helm, but due to the animosity towards the two races which could of resulted in their poor performance this season. They do however have a chance to regain some reputation if they go and win the Shield this year, a task which Arcarni Spark is accustom to having won one previously himself. If they can sort out their differences then they could better the opposition, if not then I’m sure the team would be carefully dismantled by Arcarni himself. Despite the poor performance the aptly named Shell Four has been the rock in the team scoring 8 touchdowns this season.

Blackburners

P W L D TF TA CF CA COMP INT %
World Series 2511/12 11 2 8 1 6 19 15 13 6 0 18

The Blackburners have surely had the most unluckiest season to date since the days of the Manhunters and Damage Inc. After missing out on third place after loosing a crushing defeat by Creeping Death and  vast array of crippling last minute plays by their opposition they find themselves in the Shield. The team started off very well with a draw against the Marauders but they just couldn’t keep up against their next few opposition. Currently they are having a four game loosing streak and they are sure going to be playing very hard to shake the streak off and advance through the shield semi-finals. If they can keep their nerve and stick to basic plays then they can certainly win it. To help them do this their rock at the front, Tantor TE, and Minotaur star has caused a head smashing 5 casualties so far this season and doesn’t look like he will settle for that.

Valhallen Vixen’s

Competition P W L D TF TA CF CA COMP INT %
World Series 2511/12 11 2 9 0 16 26 14 17 20 0 18

Without a doubt the biggest shock of the season so far. The Vixen’s who were highly praised for their wonderful debiting season a few years ago were favourites to make it to the play-offs. But with a terrible loosing streak of 9 this season and a career total of 13 straight matches without a win fans around the old world could not believe what they were seeing. Not only did the Vixen’s have no luck in any of their matches, none of their tactics ever went accordingly and their fan base slowly deflated week by week. But all was ended after a shock victory against the Tribe and a second against the under performing Lighting Claws. If they can keep this winning streak going they will surely go on and win the shield proving all of their critics wrong. Their star player Victor, who has been very quiet all season until recently, will surely guide the team to glory having scored an amazing 25 career touchdowns and also winning the best player of the season award two seasons ago.

This years competition for the shield will surely be a tough one to call as each team has rapidly improved over the last few weeks which will indeed make for very interesting matches. So as promised here are my predictions for the tournament.

Semi-Finals

Creeping Death vs The Blackburners

This will be a very tough match to call (I have a feeling they will all be…). Creeping Death have improved like a fine wine and have really picked up the sport quicker than any rookie team we have seen it recent years. The Blackburners have been the weaker team but only contrasted with their results, their ability on the field has indeed been brutal and only a a few unlucky plays have spelled defeat for the Chaos Dwarfs. That being said I do believe that Creeping Death are the more prepared team and are likely to handle the pressure better unless the Blackburners come out a really show the fans a treat from the start.

Predicted Win: Creeping Death

Lightning Claws vs Valhallen Vixens

Previously the Vixens stormed the Claws and wiped the floor all over them in a decisive victory, and with a full squad at their disposal it looks as though they could repeat history. But lets not forget about the Claws, who have a previous Sheild winning coach at their side who is also accustomed to last gasped attacks. If the Claws can keep the Vixens quiet then they stand a chance, but I feel that they will be the winners yet again.

Predicted Win: Valhallen Vixens

Final

Creeping Death vs Valhallen Vixens

This match will be one of the matches to watch during the play-off period if it takes place. Both teams will be out to prove themselves and earn that last little bit of respect from their fans and other teams in the league. Although whichever team finally wins, both will have no doubt proved their worth. The tightness of this match would be nail-biting and it will go either way, making this prediction the hardest of all. The only thing which will determin this is experiance which the Vixens have and therefore will not feel the pressure of a big final. Creeping Death could take it if they stand strong but I can’t see this happening unless they cause a major dent in the Vixens attack.

Predicted Win: Valhallen Vixens & Shield Winners

That concludes all reviews and predictions for the upcoming play-offs. I wish all the teams the best of luck and hope you all find glory in your matches.

The Play-Offs: Review and Predictions

With the divisional matches finished the season now moves onto the most anticipated part, the Play-offs, which will certainly prove to be a nail biting experience for all the participating teams and coaches. Before we move on to the next stages we will have a review of each team and how well they have performed this season regardless if they qualified or not.

Brimstone Flayers

World Series 2511/12 11 9 0 2 30 10 8 11 21 0 82

The Flayers at the start of the season were hot favourites to take the title this year and so far they have showed the skill and quality to go all the way. With a undefeated run of a staggering 11 matches this season, 2 resulting in draws, they are surely going to cause a stir when they enter the fray in the semi-finals in which they could face either Grimwood Voodoo or the Wherethehellarewe Tribe.  Whichever team faces them will surely have their work cut out in knocking this star team out of the park. Key players to watch out for in this team are Aedir Blisteredheart and Aedeorl Coldheart who between them have scored a wonderful 10 touchdowns this season.

Grimwood Voodoo

World Series 2511/12 10 5 4 1 14 13 14 5 1 0 50

One of the many newcomers this season the “Voodoo” have not had that bad of a season and  picked up many fans along the way. This is not only down to their impressive seasonal start but the many icons that they have in their team. “Billy Bones” the number 3 ace skeleton has been a household Favourite match after a match. His ability to scare opposing players mealy by looking at them with his gaze is unmatched with any magical spell and his uplifting team talks are something to witness. The teams effort was also helped n part by Gurt Tombbrood the star Ghoul who has racked up a brilliant 7 touchdowns this season. The “Voodoo” are to face veterans, Wherethehellarewe in what will be a very exciting match to watch.

Talos Tobacconists

P W L D TF TA CF CA COMP INT %
World Series 2511/12 10 2 4 4 8 15 16 9 5 0 20

One of the better performing teams than on paper this season in their début to the league. The Tobacconists have certainly done much better than first predicted as well as winning a couple of games along the way. The only thing that really let them down this season was the amount of  games they had tied due to unlucky plays not going their way. Having said that they are filled with confidence and with a full roster going into the game they should overcome their opposition.  The Tobacconists star player this season has so far been their Minotaur Lucky Strike who has so far caused 6 casualties one resulting in a death and currently joined second in top vicious players in the World Series. The Tabacconists have a real chance to advance to the next round if they can overcome the Gelfs and better their result from the last time.

Creeping Death

Wee Tree Fellows

P W L D TF TA CF CA COMP INT %
World Series 2511/12 11 8 1 2 38 18 10 9 41 0 73

The fellows have had the their best season in their four season stint in the HDWSBBL. They have dazzled fans and opponents at their quick scoring plays and their array of skills in which they seem unstoppable to anyone. Although they have achieved great success this year some coaches have complained about the amount the team has spend on training and the players this season wondering where the money has come from. Despite this the fans and players have enjoyed a great season, the only thing remaining is can they finally win a Championship Cup after all these years? Watch out for star catcher Harris who is currently valued as the most expensive player in the leagues history and has scored 21 career touchdowns 8 of them during this season.

The Gelfs

World Series 2511/12 11 7 4 0 25 19 15 18 29 0 64

Having come into the season after following the exit of the previous Wood Elf team, The Loren Rangers, The Gelfs sure had a massive task of living up to the expectations of their kin. They have certainly done that this season with reporters already labelling them as the “New Rangers”. They have suffered heavy in the player department loosing 7 players in a single season to death and hiring a reported 15 journeymen and mercenary’s to fill the numbers. But whatever the cost they still overcame the odds and came out victorious finishing in a respected second in their first season. They face old opposition the Talos Tobacconists who they beat 3-2 previously. The star of the teams season is catcher Blanca who has scored an amazing 11 touchdowns and is currently rated as the second best player this season.

Wherethehellarewe Tribe

World Series 2511/12 11 3 7 1 12 23 9 17 10 0 27

When news of this troublesome tribe were to return a lot teams blew a sigh of discomfort upon hearing it. The tribe have been a tricky team to play against defying all the normal plays of Halflings they actually perform above standard in amazement to everyone. The team had been predicted at the start to again finish up going into the shield and most likely winning it this season, but again defying the odds these little “buggers” as most players call them, have made it into the play-offs and a shot at a major for the first time. Although they go into this game without a win in four games, and loosing to bogey team the Valhallen Vixens, they are full of confidence that they can outdo Voodoo. Thier star player Two Whistles will surely back this up being the top touchdown scorer of the team and having scored 8 already this season.

Universal Horrors

P W L D TF TA CF CA COMP INT %
World Series 2511/12 11 7 1 3 15 6 18 8 1 0 64

The Horrors stumbled to their début this season as have really made an impact topping the OWC East division, which is the only division this season containing all brand new debiting teams. After winning their first match reporters were praising the teams fresh approach to the game and having the consistency of being a Championship winning team. However confident the team may be they must keep it up to have any hope of advancing further and causing a few upsets along the way. And if they are going to do it then they have probably the best team going into the play-offs with the likes of Fenrir Canus who has so fair caused a gut ripping 5 casualties and scored a helpful 4 touchdowns.

Deamons Stump Deamonicans

P W L D TF TA CF CA COMP INT %
World Series 2511/12 10 5 1 4 11 8 15 16 3 2 50

Here at the press office we have always wondered what this team name meant and wherever it reflected the team on the field. To our and the fans delight this was indeed true as the Deamonicans gracefully took to the field and displayed an awesome display of maiming, fouling, killing, deaths and winning that we as Blood Bowl followers always anticipate when viewing. The Demonicans have delivered their fair share of the carnage to the seasons and have not done too badly on their opening season finishing second in the division. The Deamonicans were the hot favourites to pick up the casualties awards this season but they also have high odds of going far in the play-offs. Despite doing well they have drawn too many matches this season costing them the top position, so they must keep their feet on the ground and concentrate on the game at hand. With the help of Dushruk their star touchdown scorer who has scored 8 this season they will surely give the viewers an exciting match.

Temper Bay Marauders

P W L D TF TA CF CA COMP INT %
World Series 2511/12 10 2 5 3 8 16 11 10 11 0 20

The Marauders entered the league hoping to be among the best Orc team since the days of the Beaumont Blitzers. No matter how hard they tried it seemed fate always spat in their face and shone brightly on their opposition. Despite their unlucky run of four games straight loosing they managed to finally shake the fate deamons off their back and pick up  a huge win against the Voodoo as they looked a totally new team. Having won that game they qualified for the play-offs as the Blackburners failed to beat underdogs Creeping Death. The Marauders are starting to look more like an Orc team but they have a very long way to go before they even come close to being a great as the Blitzers and only if they can prove they can rise to the challenge in these important matches. The duo of Ueghor Ironjaw and Captain Garash Rockhead are sure to score many more touchdowns between them as their joint total is currently at 7.

Drakwald Defiers

P W L D TF TA CF CA COMP INT %
World Series 2511/12 11 9 0 2 22 6 34 9 1 0 82

When hearing the name Drakwald you think of the Deadheads (The original team), but to everyone surprise the team was in fact a band of Chaos marauders calling themselves the Drakwald Defiers for some unknown reason. Despite using the same first name the Defiers soon won the fans over after a tremendous season of maiming, killing and of course plenty of winning with a current winning streak of 11 matches much like the Brimstone Flayers. But what makes this team hot contenders for the grand prize is the amount of casualties they have caused this season, a staggering 34 in total! Only 30 behind the Karond Kar Corsairs the best casualty causing team in the leagues history. With much more to be expected from this team it’s any body game how far this team can go. With the likes of Festus “The Pestitant” who has caused 11 casualties with 2 of them resulting in deaths anything can happen.

Elfheim Razorhawks

P W L D TF TA CF CA COMP INT %
World Series 2511/12 11 4 5 2 16 16 4 27 28 0 36

The second Pro Elf team to feature in the leagues history, the Razorhawks, had to live up to the success that Wee Tree Fellows had set. With a catchy name they set out to become the best Elf team out their and the certainally didn’t do too bad of a job despite loosing 5 playing to deaths, many of them happing to the cursed shirt number 1. The luck seemed to be against them most of the time but the Razorhawks pressed on though the losses and came out on top nicking second place right under the noses of the veteran team the Jackles. The Razorhawks have the skill and ability to go all the way in this play-off but they always seem to lack the confidence to believe that they can. Hopefully their star player Rog Turin, who has scored 4 touchdowns for the team, can boost the morale of the team even if they do have three players missing due to injury.

The Tutsbone Jackles

P W L D TF TA CF CA COMP INT %
World Series 2511/12 11 4 6 1 8 14 18 18 1 0 36

For many this season was predicted as the season the Jackles would dominate and for the best part those statements were indeed true. They have far exceeded the fans expectations and since they won the shield last season they have increased in confidence and performance every game. And it’s no wonder they have had a great season as the quad of Mummies ,who have been with the team since the start, have dominated their front line. Their tried and tested box play has been the bane of many teams including the Vixens, who lost out to the Jackles because of that tactic. The Jackles are to face the Demonicans who in their previous match up saw a shock 1-1 tie, could very well beat them and head to the next round. The keys players of the team are without a doubt are the mummies who have held every team back and caused no end of headaches for coaches.

After witnessing a very enjoyable season to date and a very close one as well it will be very hard to see how these games will end up. But never backing away from a challenge I will attempt to predict how each match will turn out the way I think it will.

Wild Card Round

Grimwood Voodoo vs Wherethehellarewe Tribe

Both teams have shared in their ups and downs but Grimwood Voodoo have been playing above par for a debut season. The Tribe, I feel, have been rather lacking in their finishing which has resulted in recent losses. They could rally up and dominate the game but I think Voodoo will stamp their attempts out and run out as the victors in this match up.

Predicted Win: Grimwood Voodoo

The Gelfs vs Talos Tobacconists

This will be the highlight of the wild card round in which it really could go either way. Both teams have had great seasons and both deserve to go though to the next round. I believe that this game will be decided whoever scores first or whoever can knock a player out first giving the fact both teams have minimal players. With that I believe that the Tobacconists will roll out as the winners as they surely can learn from their previous mistakes.

Predicted Win: Talos Tobacconists

Deamons Stump Deamonicans vs The Tutsbone Jackles

Another hard match to predict. The Jackles have the might of the mummies where the Deamonicans have the advantage of not playing fairly and fouling where they can. I think that this match will come down to brute strength and who can hit the hardest, and with that said I believe that the Jackles will come up as winnings here.

Predicted Win: The Tutsbone Jackles

Elfheim Razorhawks vs Temper Bay Marauders

Both teams will be looking to outdo each other as an old age rival will surely be felt in the air. The Razorhawks came out on top last time but they suffered a few injury’s in their previous match. If the Marauders can hit first and run the first touchdown in then they will surely walk away with the victory. However I believe that the Razorhawks skill and pace will be too great for the Orcs.

Predicted Win: Elfheim Razorhawks

Semi-Finals

Brimstone Flayers vs Grimwood Voodoo

This match would be highly anticipated by both sets of fans to amend the previous engagement. With the success the Voodoo have been having they could go all the way and if they quickly hit the Flayers hard they could win this one. Sadly I believe that the Flayers are just too good this season and are in no hurry to end their winning streak.

Predicted Win: Brimstone Flayers

Wee Tree Fellows vs Talos Tobacconists

The Fellows beat the Tobacconists previously 6-0 the highest scoreline of the season and I’m sure it will not happen again. However I still think the Tobacconists are still a young team and inexperienced compared to the Fellows. If they can hit first they may stand a chance otherwise the Elfs will run rings around them again.

Predicted Win: Wee Tree Fellows

Universal Horrors vs The Tutsbone Jackles

When two undead teams meet it’s always a spectical and it’s no excuse in this match. This will be the highlight match of the round in what will most likely be a sluggerknocker. Both teams have the skill to win this but I do think the Jackles will again dominate with their mummies unless the Horrors can put them out early one.

Predicted Win: The Tutsbone Jackles

Drakwald Defiers vs Elfheim Razorhawks

Another match which could prove to be very close. The Razorhawks can win if they stay out of trouble unlike the last time and rack up the points. However I believe the Defiers have grown as a team and will be far too strong for the Elves to withstand.

Predicted Win: Drakwald Defiers

Finals

Brimstone Flayers vs Wee Tree Fellows

This will be a very tight game with both sides scoring a lot of touchdowns. The Flayers will be putting the boot in as best they can in and if they do can cause a lot of problems for the Fellows. If the Fellows can hold their nerve they will surely win unlike last time.

Predicted Win: Brimstone Flayers & NWC Champions

The Tutsbone Jackles vs Drakwald Defiers

Although the Jackles would of far exceeded their exceptions they will certainly bring it on against the favourites. Entering the match as the underdogs I think it will be too much for the Jackles to hold out against the might of the Defiers unless they cause a few upsets early on.

Predicted Win: Drakwald Defiers & OWC Champions

The play-offs with certainly be historic wherever it will go and you can be sure that there will be a few upsets along the way. I invite fans and reporters alike to comment on my predictions but to also detail their favorite moment of the 2011/12 season. Thank you for reading and see you all at the Super Bowl Championship!

Season 2509/10 Review

Believe it or not it has been 12 months since we embarked on the start of the 2509/10 Season. While it actually finished over four months ago, it has taken us a while to get back to speed here on the website due to various technical issues and real life getting in the way.

Over the last few days we have taken a brief look back at the four competitions that have taken place this season and handed out a couple of awards. In case you have missed them, the links are as follows:

As much as we would like to go on about this season, we feel that the above posts capture the feeling and we really need to move on. As document many (many) times, it has been groundbreaking season and one where the league came into its own. There have been so many surprises from the possible last matches of the Rangers and RSV, the Slammers actually winning something to a simple linesman winning the best player award for his performance during the championship IV! Its a stark reminder that anything can happen here in the HDWSBBL!

As we have done it with all the competitions, it would be a shame to miss it now. No Season would be complete without some awards being handed out!

Again, thank you to all the coaches for the effort out in.

Championship IV Review

The final competition this season was the Championship IV, the 4th annual competition for the HDWSBBL Championship Cup.

As is tradition, the final competition of the Season was the Championship IV. Once again, the best 8 teams from the league stages of the Open Scramble 2509/10 faced each other. Half of the competing teams had been in a Championship Tournament before with two former champions in the running. Once again, the Loren Rangers had qualified for the fourth successive Championship tournament but it remained to be seen if they could finally win the only remaining major HDWSBBL Championship Cup to complete their set.

The Opening round begun with some excellent matches. The Rangers almost stumbled at the first hurdle when they took on the Deadheads, Atrocity took apart RSV in a match that saw them kill two players while in the process of clearing the pitch of the opposition! The Predators defeated the Vixens in a clash of the new blood and the Corsairs defeated their old rivals, the Reavers.

The action intensified in the Second Round as the final four focused on their goal. The Loren Rangers managed to defeat Atrocity without any major issues and the Corsairs overcome the experienced Predators.

After those two matches, the final was set. For the third time this season the Rangers lined up to play against the Corsairs. Unusually for both teams it was almost impossible to predict a winner before the match as out of the previous two encounters, both teams had won one.

In the end, it appears as though the Corsairs would be the team to make history that night as they defeated the Rangers 3-1 to close the Championship IV and the 2509/10 Season of the HDWSBBL!

No competition would be complete without some awards being handed out!

  • HDWSBBL Championship Cup Winner: Karond Kar Corsairs (Dark Elves)
  • HDWSBBL Championship Cup Runner-Up: The Loren Rangers (Wood Elves)
  • Team with most Touch Downs: Karond Kar Corsairs with 9 (matched current record set by The Loren Rangers in the Championship I in the 2506/07 Season)
