Dark Wings of Fury

All across the Darkstar Straights, so named for the late dawns and early sunsets across the area, Warriors set sail for the fabled lands of Lustria, to spill blood in the name of Khaine, Lord of Murder. Great battles raged up and down the Lustrian Coast, and many ancient treasures and skulls recovered and returned to the temple of Khaine. Mordessa and Morgause, the Twin daughters of Lord Delekhan, languished in their fathers keep while their older brothers won honour after honour in her fathers eyes, whilst they, capable warriors in their own right, were kept at home, awaiting suitable marriages to garner more power for their father. Beautiful as they were, they refused all of her suitors, Mordessa even ripping the throat of one with her teeth (which of course, made her even more of a prize to her would-be-suitors!) Tired of their life, Mordessa attempted escape, and was instead captured, as her Pegasus lifeless corpse flung from the sky by her father’s Manticore. Shamed and angered by her disobedience, Lord Delekhan exiled his daughters, sending them away to become Brides of Khaine. Enroute, the ship disappeared, never to be seen again.

A few months later, a purple ship with coal-grey sails bearing the symbol of a bronze wing approached the coast of Bretonnia. Recognising the Sleek, Graceful yet Murderous design, the villagers fled to their local lord, who assembled his Knights with great haste. As they readied to ride to meet their foe, another messenger reached the castle, claiming that a score of Dark Elves had entered the local bloodbowl stadium. The Baron and his entourage cautiously approached the arena. A few hours later, and a bloody 2-2 draw had been fought, and the Newly Christened “Dark Wings of Fury” set sail once more. A few more successful games against Bretonnian opposition confirmed to the Twins that they had made the correct decision; a way to garner fame, riches and power free from the tyrannical rule of their father or the grasp of the maniacal sisters of Khaine.

Many wild rumours surround the sisters, now ironically dressed as witch elves to hide their true identities. The most widely told tale, whispered well out of the hearing of the two sisters, is that the Twins seduced their players, and recruited them to their new team. What is known is that not a single one of the former crew has ever spoken of the past. Whether this is out of loyalty, or because the rumour of every member of the team having their tongues removed is true has yet to be confirmed. Eerily, the ship the team travels on is named “The Silence”, which has only reinforced the rumours….
