Gog Magog Gladiators

Knobbed Ware was a clever snotling… no-one quite knows how it happened, but he ended up in charge of a stable of ogre gladiators – the ogres simply followed the orders they were given, and the snotling lackeys didn’t really care who was in charge as long as they could avoid the mucking-out jobs. Because honestly, no-one wants to clear out the facilities after an ogre has been…
So Knobbed Ware ran the gladiator business for a while, but realised that pitting the ogres against each other, though well-loved by the fans, was not as lucrative as it could be. The bills to heal up injuries on the fighters, or to replace those who were too hurt to continue their careers (or dead), were getting higher, and his snotlings were starting to get rowdy once they realised they were the same size as the boss. But then his over-worked snotling brain came up with the solution… he could use his ogres to fight other people – and also, he could throw a few of the more insolent snotlings onto the pitch as well.
After a couple of practice games, Knobbed Ware decided he liked the action too much – plus, he needed to be on the pitch, closer to his players, to get his orders across – so he signed up as a player (and team captain, obviously) as well. The team were not even remotely ready for action, but he decided that if an ogre was pointed in the right direction (opposition star player) he could be relied on to sometimes do the right thing (kill), and practice wouldn’t really help much.

HDWSBBL - Did You Know

Rufus Drumknott of the Middenhein Manhunters received the first ever Eagle Award during the 2507/08 season. He was spectacularly killed by trying to block a dwarf player but instead he was thrown into the death roller. Indecently the groundskeeper spent 3 days picking all of him off the pitch.
